Today I had Best Buy do a stealth install of Pioneer DEH-X6900BT into my 2005 Prius. I had called 3 different Best Buy locations and asked if they could do the install after explaining what it is. Couple of them said they could try but their limited lifetime warranty wouldn't cover it since it's not their usual install. Finally I found a Best Buy location that said they can do the install and to bring in my car. The installer Dustin looked at the location and knew what to do. He did say that if he has to drill new holes in the factory stereo bracket assembly, there will be an extra charge. He called me after an hour to say it was done! He said it was pretty straight forward. I only paid for the basic install fee, wire harness, and shop supply fee. I had to supply my own 68 ohm resistor since they didn't have any at the shop. I bought a pack from Radio Shack for $0.85. The other Best Buy locations said that the only way to get the resistor was to purchase a dash kit. The install went well and I am happy with how music sounds in my Prius now! The radio sounds much better now. The climate controls also work since they used a resistor. The installer confirmed that I have limited lifetime warranty nationwide just incase something goes wrong. So if you want to get the stealth install in your Prius but don't know or just don't want to install it on your own, consider Best Buy. The small hole below the stereo is from when the previous owner installed an aux audio adapter.
$95.33 with tax for the wire harness, material fee, and standard install fee. I paid $0.85 at Radio Shack for a pack of resistors.
