Is it worth it to get the Prime without garage to charge it?

Just be aware that the tax credits make the Prime a good deal, but the resale value on a standard Prius will likely be better than on a Prime. Plug-in resale value for non-Teslas is, frankly, awful. Also, lots of used car buyers in Massachusetts also do not have access to EV charging spots...

Also, as bisco will tell you, Massachusetts electricity rates are some of the highest in the nation (well over 20c per kw), so the cost benefit of a plug-in is relatively low at current gas prices (unless you are lucky enough to charge at a reduced rate or free at work)

(I'm not saying the Prime isn't awesome, because it totally is awesome... and there are great environmental and performance benefits to plug-ins... just answering the question of whether it is a good *deal* in your case)

Much of the fast depreciation on plug ins is because of the federal and state incentives. Another factor is the rate at which battery costs and performance have been improving.

What!? Nobody mentioned HOV stickers! The carpool lane was initially my main reason for buying this car. In SoCal, I've saved as much as 1 hour travel time on a single trip to a client. That alone was worth the price of admission, when you drive 25,000 to 35,000 per year in a crowded metropolitan area. All those other bells and whistles just made the car even more desirable. And don't forget, in 2012, the so-called Prius plug in Advanced was selling for about $40k.
The vastly improved 2017 Advanced is about $6k cheaper! How can you say no!

I suppose these HOV carpool stickers are not offered in other states. How sad.

I have a garage, but the wife's Camaro is in it. I get the drive way. I installed a lawn light with an outlet. I also installed an outlet at work through the window. Here are the photos again.

We don't even have HOV lanes by me, and with my schedule, don't need them.:p
