Finally, I see the end of ordinary employment. The first week in May, I should be able to walk out the door ... happy that my current assignments have finally come to an honorable end. It also means to about a 1/3d decreased income. Other than taxes, utilities, and living expenses, we'll be OK.

On Monday, I'll payoff the Prime and as per usual, my monthly bills. Then early in May, my wife and I will be on permanent vacation ... until I get bored. The last time, when I got out of the Marines, it took three weeks before I started my new career.

So I'll be trimming our expenses and taking a little 'time off'. Probably by the end of summer, I'll be anxious and ready to discover what I want to do when I 'grow up.'

Congratulations! Coincidentally my wife's last day is tomorrow after 26 years in law enforcement.

Fortunately we were able to sock away additional money in her pension plan over the years. She signed up for a reduced monthly payout that guarantees 100% to the girls and I in the event something happens to her first . Otherwise we'd have to get by on 65%. With that extra money we put in, though, her take-home is only going to be $200 less than she brings home now.

Here's to you and may you find enjoyment in your "time off".

Welcome to the club Bob! 2~3 years back I became redundant, and hey, decided to make it permanent.

    Poirot's a good show. :)

It's been just over 2 years for me and my wife. I am still amazed how little you need to live on when you don't have to go to work, and everything is paid for. I should have done it sooner.

Congratulations, Bob!! Make sure you come up with another reason to get out of bed in the morning.

Technically, I could retire net year, but I doubt that I will. Almost 20 years ago when I left can making to be a missionary, someone accused me of retiring. At first, I disagreed, but then said, yeah, I guess I am if retiring is quitting doing what you don't like so you can do what you do like. (Actually, I liked can making, but not supervising.)

I hope you find something you're equally passionate about.

I may grow old but I refuse to grow up !!

One of my major "jobs" in retirement turned out to be attending NASCAR races.........and taking my motorcycle with me.
