Exactly. Superior EV range. Not efficiency, as I mencioned before.

Which he values more than higher efficiency.
With the first gen plug in loss of a seat and cargo space, efficiency is about all the Prime has over the Volt.

Disregard for cost... we've seen that nonsense many times before.

To me, efficiency also includes spending less time in gas station lines.

In my opinion Prime look sexy ....with the aerodynamic involvement this is something new on the road that people still need to appreciateCar's this days are going to be made toward efficiency in every aspectNot just powertrain what was the old school....Creation of aerodynamic and efficiency is not always in favor or looksHybrid car's are what will move new carsI'm one part involved in Car manufacturing so this is my picture

Aren't those lines are a product of your state's policy of having someone pump the gas for you?

I can't recall the time I last had to wait in line for a pump. Modern gas stations have so many simultanious-use pumps that lines aren't a factor until a shortage emerges. But then I've been through several recent storm related power outages where a BEV wouldn't have any ability to recharge either. And since gas generally gives you 400+ miles of range in a hybrid ...

That and being in an area where New Yorkers jam up all the gas stations around here because the gas is cheaper.

The price of gas fluctuates, but electricity stays the same. ;)

Just to put things in perspective:

    We have two, plug-in hybrids:
    • 2014 BMW i3-REx
    • 2017 Prius Prime Plus (backup)
They bracket the Volt and pretty much every other plug-in hybrid on the market and either fully backs up the other. So Monday, I drove the Prime to work and back home to take wife to doctor's appointment. We drove the BMW to the appointment and later for a dinner date. Either car could have been used and accomplished our driving task and both have dynamic cruise control which I use pretty much all the time.

To find a real difference, you have to go to the margins of their performance. But so far, we've not found a case where either could not accomplish urban or cross-country driving. I have no doubt that any of the plug-in hybrids can't accomplish these tasks but for us, dynamic cruise control remains a 'show stopper'.

And what exactly is the difference now with current incentives?
The hassle isn't in the time filling the tank. It is in simply having to pull off the road and stop when all you want to do is go home or have to get to work.

Ten cents a gallon less if you are willing to pay cash.

Mixing up COST with PRICE is often the root of confusion.

We need to focus on business impact, that very much means putting production concerns at the forefront... since it greatly impacts dealer & customer, especially long term.

I have asked you this before. Do you have any evidence that the Volt's MSRP is below GM's cost to build the car?
And to add to that, do you have any proof that Toyota is making any profit per sale on just the Prime itself?

what's really going to be the clencher, is when one or the other company puts their system in a pickup truck.

Can you use that as a mouse for the car's touchscreen?

    It will likely be Ford.

Which is how things ran for the Prius.
