In my opinion if you have owned high luxury cars comfort safety features....it will grow with you..and you will never feel same in base model...
So if your budget is what you follow stay on the track...otherwise once you get in love with all new technologies it will cost you a lot each time you decide to buy new car.

Don't forget Federal credit and other inactive depends on state you live in...
To me even they don't give any Federal credits i will still buy one....I'm getting tired of spending on fuel 3-400 a month...and I'm considering selling all gas car's i have and keep Prius Prime and another 100% EV car....still not finding what i want...

    Hang on, I'll go check....
    You made me do it!
Hit the Menu button on the right side of the screen. You will see the four circles of choices. Below those are two boxes. The Box on the right says Display. Hit that and you'll be able to turn the screen on or off. If you want the screen to come back on, just tap the menu button again and everything will go back to what it was before.

All electric gives me range anxiety. My buddy has a BMW I3, he had a power outage at his house in Riverside and was unable to drive the car. He had to go drive his 2008 Prius. If he didn't have so many cars already, he would be buying himself a Prime too because he loves my car.

My pleasure! We've got to unite against all those ICE drivers.

I, too, take comfort in the fact that I have the ability to drive indefinitely on an ICE when traveling long distances and pure Electricity when around town. More than 50% of my driving is covered in 25 miles 1 way and I have a charger at each of my local destinations.

I have a house in California and 1 in Utah and I frequently commute between the 2. The distance is outside the range of even the highest-end Tesla and the thought of sitting in front of a casino for an hour is only surpassed in its distastefulness by actually going INTO the Casino to pass the time while my electric car charges up.. While a Tesla would be fun, I chose the Prime for its advanced gadgetry as well as its practical utility.

I work in car manufacturing..and till 2020 there will still be Hybrid car's winning over EV....where future will change....Hybrid will not die they will be main weapon to keep with high MPG set by Governments ....
We are already 5% bellow efficiency from Formula 1 and what they doing now this will be in regular cars in 3-4 year's....before that was 10 years....

Well @Metalmanstan , based on the above calculations from @Prius from Dad and @bisco , it looks like the difference is minimal. Remember, you're still upgrading from a Corolla to a Prius so you can't expect a net zero or even a net gain. The Prius is a more expensive car because it's larger and has more equipment.

You're getting a car that's quieter than the Corolla (laminated windshield AND front side window glass... and of course EV mode), it's comfortable (4-wheel independent suspension), much more fuel efficient (in HV mode) and of course has that all-electric range. You're also getting more equipment (Full-speed dynamic radar cruise control, lane departure warning w/ steering assist, pre-collision system w/ pedestrian detection, automatic high beam, 7" Display Audio w/ nav vs. 6.1" on your Corolla, low and high beam LED headlights as well as full LED exterior lights,

The great thing about hybrids and plug-in hybrids is that they're the Great Compromise for everyone. They keep the oil companies selling gasoline, and still try to console the ecologists. Gasoline can go up to $5 then $10 a gallon as our cars become more and more efficient.
Maybe someday the oil companies can invest in giant space solar collectors to provide all of us with electric energy in our roads. With inductive electrical power in these roads, they could provide us with clean energy for all our vehicles.

Thanks guys for all this amazing info!! While it is definitely is more expensive, @Tideland Prius is right that. I will be upgrading to a better car. A lot better. I'm going back to the dealership and see if they can cut more off the price or maybe give me a good price to buy it. I thank you for some amazing info and I hope to come back with a new Prime!! HOPE!!

That is a penalty. Negotiate that out of the new lease (if you go ahead) or wait till the lease ends. No value is gained for you by making lease payments for a car the dealer is reselling.

also, you should shop around, and not accept the first price without trying to negotiate. have you considered financing? if you qualify for all the tax credits, a 5 year deal might be reasonable, and then you own the car at the end.

Ah...Stan, you don't own the Corolla. The lessor (bank, Toyota Finance, etc.) owns the car.
So everything you owe on the old lease will be added to the price you'll pay (via the new lease payments) on the Prime. You'll be paying lease payments for a car you no longer have (the Corolla) plus lease payments on the new car. Bad deal. Keep the Corolla until the lease expires. In general, leasing is the most expensive way to have a car. I'd only lease if I really wanted an unreliable brand--a brand I sure wouldn't want to own. Toyota is not on that list. In your case I'd buy the Corolla when it comes off lease, pay off the Corolla loan plus add some savings, then buy a Prime a few years from now. Or buy the Prime if you have the down payment. (If the dealer draws a 4-square on a sheet of paper, you know how you're being manipulated because you've watch this video...
    )

When leasing, do not tell the dealer that you want to lease. Don't tell them if you want to finance or pay cash. Don't tell them anything. Be a poker player. Negotiate the lowest possible price on the car you want. Refuse to pay for anything extra unless you know you really want it, and then negotiate them down to a fair price. You'll have a lease return. OK. (If you had a trade in, negotiate the value of the trade in next. The purchase or lease price and the trade in value have no real relationship to each other, but the dealer will throw numbers around while your head is spinning. A trade in is worth what the wholesale market value of that car is as shown on a trade publication like the Manheim Market Report. Valuation You can't see this, only a dealer can subscribe, buy that's what your trade is worth. It is not worth more because you are buying or leasing a new car from them.) Now...for a lease, negotiate the money factor. That is the interest rate you'll pay for the money borrowed for your new car, buried in the monthly lease payment. The lower the purchase price you negotiate and the lower the money factor you negotiate, the lower your lease payment will be. How to get the best auto lease deals now - CBS News

Will the Prime save you $55 a month in gasoline? Others have given you the numbers.

Great points! Listen to this guy! I was in luxury car and RV sales for over 20 years; this guy (PT Guy) knows what he's talking about. Another point on leases, if you've got lousy credit, the dealer may not sell you a car, where he might lease one. This happened to me after my bankruptcy, foreclosure, and divorce 25 years ago. I was able to lease a Civic, though turned down on purchase. The dealer makes tons on leases.

Awesome points and tips guys! I will be negotiating with the dealer tonight. He is a good friend of mine so I will try to work something off of the price and drop the remaining payments of the lease because I know now that they are going to sell it and get even more money.

The reason I like a lease is of course, the lower payments. Plus I don't mind getting a new car every year. I'm not wealthy but I am very good with my money flow. Now that I have more knowledge of 'working' the price, I will go in and see if I can bring down the payments even more, or maybe even to a point to where I can purchase the car. Also, I live in a place where there is very, very little competition. So saying that I'm going to go down the street is not that easy.

Once again, thanks guys and I will let you know what happens at the dealship.
