The charger is AC to DC (a rectifier) not DC to AC (inverter).

This means that getting AC supply requires a dedicated inverter and means to switchover the lines of the inlet from the charger to the inverter when Power Supply mode is chosen.
So. IMO, if Toyota will ever offer AC supply to other markets it would be better to include a chademo inlet and a stand-alone inverter/converter like Mitsu is offering with the Outlander PHEV.

of course ! New Projectors are using LED lamps - typically needing a puny 50watts.
Funny thing about camping in Asian countries (where those giant hornets are native), the mosquitoes in those countries are pretty Hefty as well. But I guess if you don't mind 90% humidity & 100° temp's, then that kind of camping might just be right up your alley. Keep that projector handy, you might need it to smash the bugs.

    Haha nice.

Hmm. I was under the impression that it's built into the orange unit. That part you circled.... isn't that for the solar panel system?

Have you tried putting a voltmeter on the output? Intrigued to know what you'll find. If 100v I guess that's QED that the device has a small 100v inverter built in. If there it's an inverter in three car somehow, your measured output will be 120v or 240 I'm guessing.

Well I don't have the unit, Bowang does. Hopefully he can try that out for us.

I will not hold my breath, most probably the device is just a smart adopter with proximity switch.
If the on-board charger is just a rectifier, it cannot deliver anything back to the inlet connector. In order to have output power, there must be a switch-over of the leads from the charger to...an internal inverter/converter supplying 100V AC to the inlet connector (becomes an outlet), and to the other AC outlet locations in the car.

So what you're saying is that we may not be able to use the accessory even if we wanted it because our cars are not equipped with the converter? I was hoping it was built into the accessory.

I bought another month of TIS access to check the electrical wiring of our Prius Prime. One new fact was discovery the high-level schematic of the AC-to-DC charger shows an isolating transformer that surprised me in a nice way.

As for the 125A fuse, it is on the DC-to-DC converter that powers the 12V system. This is consistent with past Prius practices. However, it turns out the AC-to-DC traction battery charger also has a low-power, 12V AC-to-DC converter.

My primary interest was looking at the J1772 wiring. There is an SAE variant that allows DC voltage from the traction battery to connect directly to the J1772. Unless it is built-in to the charger, there is no, relay protected, direct connection.

I also wanted to see the external connections to the LiON battery pack and the types of codes that can be set. Sad to say, I'm not seeing electrical signals in the TIS documentation, what one might see with an oscilloscope.

This is expected, no surprise, we know it from the PiP that the 12V battery is being charged as needed during external charging of the traction battery. Since when charging, the hybrid system is off - charging the auxiliary battery must be done with a separate small inverter/converter.
Easy to see this even without any external instrument: leave the trunk gate open when you plug-in (for immediate charging), observe how after about 1-2 seconds the trunk and cabin lights become brighter.

You also need a way to power the normal car accessories while driving in EV.

There are two: (1) normal READY mode, and (2) when under AC charging.

Let me try to plug the orange 100v outlet adapter in and put a meter or scope. I doubt it gives any voltage due to the DC-AC 1500W inverter is never installed in any US model.

When the ignition is on, how much wattage is supplied to the 12 volt system? You could attach an inverter directly to the 12 volt battery.

you can do a 1000w inverter.

Then there is the ac unit. What voltage and amps supplied to it?
