yes, even an unheated garage seems to provide some protection and change in driving experience.

 

An unheated *attached* garage does.

I have one.

One of the biggest changes we made to our house when we moved in was to insulate our garage. The difference was far more than I had expected.

Before we did that, the garage temperature in the summer would approach 120°F. Now, it generally never gets hotter than about 5°F hotter than the outside, and its often cooler than the outside.

It used to be about 2/3 of the way between the indoor temperature and the outdoor temperature in the winter. For example, if it was 70 inside and 10 outside (a 60 degree difference) it would be 2/3 of that (2/3 of 60 is 40) toward the outside, or about 30 degrees (70 - 40 = 30). Now, that 2/3 has changed to more like 1/3. So that 30 degree temperature when it was 10 outside is now 50 degrees. That's a huge difference.

 

plus, the car feels lonely out there in the cold and dark. has to affect performance.

 

That is why I parked out side for the experiments, just wanted to share everything about my condition

do you live in an industrial loft? i love those.

 

My engine came on today. I went down a long grade in EV mode. Stopped at a light near the bottom, engine was on. 65-70 degrees outside, battery was not full. Did not use B mode. Puzzling.

 

Probably due to battery temp too high.

 

I was looking for the tent or cardboard box.

 

but ohio is the cold capital of the world.
