I find that message is misleading. What I think is happening is that the main session with PC has timed out and this message after an attempt to access the database without valid credentials. For me, it always happens after a lengthy idle time and clicking on either the Alert or Conversations icons. I suspect these buttons don't re-establish a valid logged on session with the site host and/or databases.

 

try it at 6AM. Valid credentials have nothing to do with it. There is some sort of server resource issue.

 

And it has been going on for YEARS.
And the owner seems unwilling or unable to fix it.
But I try to tread lightly because the last time I raised a stink about it........my "credentials" suddenly became "invalid".

 

This morning it went ballistic abound 4:20 or 4:22 AM EST. I happened to be browsing at the time.

 

Twas the Witching Hour, around midnight Pacific Coast time, when the goblins appeared for me Thursday night/Friday morning.

 

Been good to me today. What do you think's gone wrong??

Seems to me I heard this before, asked by someone (or two, or three...), but even a simple:

We don't know what is going on

would be nice.

Is there anything we can do to help with the forum issue?
Do we need to start a fund for new server hardware? I believe there are quite a few dedicated users who would like to help where possible.

 

I'm clueless, but suspect it doesn't need a lot of $'s, just a bit of attention. But who knows?

 

Perhaps we can help troubleshooting. That is why I posted the starting time in post 788. (That is a LOT of posts for a thread!)

 

Yeah on the west coast I'll notice things go pear-shaped if I'm up late, say around midnight. Not all the time.

For me, the main reason this is my go-to thread is the title is so easy to search, it's pretty much the only thread with "ballistic" in the title, lol.

Deep down we know @Danny is doing what he can. It is frustrating for all of us.

 

So, having said that, and in some 800 posts in this thread alone, as well as a couple of others on the same issue....

Has there ever been any attempt by Danny to explain what is going on. There may well have been and I missed it, but I think if the "fear of the unknown" was overcome, everyone would be a little more comfortable.
