If you're doing 45km/hr or more, you can set it like a normal Cruise Control - if a car comes in front, it becomes DRCC - right down to 1km/hr.

If you're below 40 or 45 (not sure now) and the car in front disappears, it will display "NO LEAD VEHICLE" or something like that, and you're without Cruise Control. But if you're over 45km/hr, it just reverts to being a normal Cruise Control.

Yup you're right. It worked without a car in front. Why didn't it work the last time remains a mystery. Is this what getting older means?

Probably - happens to me all the time.

Though - Samantha has a mind of her own at times. She and I had been on the Motorway for 15 mins on Sunday, full battery, 30 degC. Pulled up at same traffic light I stop at 3 or 4 times a week. And because I only drive another block after that before parking, I ALWAYS press EV Button, and she obediently obeys. Not on Sunday night, in a sulk for some reason, she said EV MODE UNAVAILABLE. I'm sure she yelled it at me. And - guess what? She wouldn't tell me why!!

But as we pulled up a block away, I tried again as I drove in the driveway, she went into EV mode. She forgets why she was annoyed quickly.

Back to CRUISE - she has a couple of times told me that there was no vehicle in front, even though there was one. Last time it was in light, not heavy rain. She'd been following the same car for a couple of kilometres at maybe 40-50 km/hr in HEAVY RAIN, when the rain eased, traffic sped up to 80-90, she decided the SAME car in front wasn't there any more. I can only assume that the spray from the road might have increased with speed, even though the rain was lighter.

Mine almost works like that but without the NO LEAD VEHICLE message.
EDIT: I misread on the borked website. I am never without Cruise control and have not seen it revert to normal cruise.

You were probably driving too slow in the wife's Gen 4. You really need to drive it more or get your own! :D

I can verify you are not going crazy (yet). :D

It appears you are using the MID to determine whether DRCC is enabled instead of regular cruise. Apparently, sometimes DRCC is enabled but no blue bars appear when no car is in front.

The best way to determine whether DRCC or cruise is on is to use the "old-fashioned" indicator lights to the right (or left, for our non-standard International users) of the MID. DRCC & cruise have totally different indicator lights.

I've never used CRUISE - only ever DRCC. I must have a look a the different indicator light - never bothered to check it was even there.

I believe you hold the Cruise on button for 3 seconds.Otherwise there is a menu preference somewhere. My wife & son prefer just cruise because DRCC is so sluggish in ECO Mode. I am running in Normal now.

Yep, I knew it was there - I just couldn't see the point when I had DRCC - I'm retired now, why do the work if the gadget will do it for me - HeHeHe

DRCC's light has an additional picture of a car within the CC light.

Yep - checked it out this afternoon. I didn't really find any use for it, turned it off and went back to DRCC - which has a fancier ICON :D.

I have no problem setting my cruise control speed in DRCC mode with no one in front on my 2017 Prius Two.
