So this is what my dealer told me today.... " Your Prius Prime is at the top of the list for allocation for us, so it will be the next one built that is coming to us. I do not have a specific ETA for it, but just keeping you informed on any progress. Let me know if you have any questions!"
I think it will, they seem like they've been keeping on top of it and actually had a model to test drive that they weren't selling. At least I'll get it outside of salt season!
Indianapolis; I ordered my Prime in late November. They got the VIN last week, reporting that it was built on Thursday. The sales gal says it is usually 45 days from VIN to arrival on their lot. She anticipates a 6 month wait for an order/deposit put in today.
45 days? That is nuts. Is it on a slow boat from China? Mine was made Jan. 30th and suppose to be at port Feb. 15th. Then to the dealership by end of Feb. I guess the key here is "suppose".
Madison, WI: Smart Motors did another trade and as of last night (2/6/17) have four Primes due to arrive later this week that are not promised to anyone. They do charge $1K to recover their cost of putting it on a truck and driving it from the East coast.
like thread parent @navsaria I am a Madison, WI native and am working via Smart Toyota here in town. One of those cars being trucked in is a Premium with our name on it. Have any forum members here dealt with Smart and confirmed the applicability of the tax credit with respect to a NY truckload? Are these really "trades" or are the buying/titling and reselling as "used"? re tax language (I am not a lawyer or accountant) key words here would be "trade" vs "purchase/tax/title". I am NOT implying Smart is stealing tax credits, just looking for additional datapoints. I have reached out to our sales consultant at Smart and am awaiting an answer, will share what I learn. While I am eager to get my hands on one I'm not so eager to give up $4500. doh. I can't post links yet as I'm too new. look at irc 30d, specifically the paragraph that opens with 'The vehicles must be acquired for use or lease and not for resale....'. Also google motortrend dealers-stealing-7500-ev-tax-credit-gm-nissan -Michael
replying to myself, consultant confirms this is a trade not a resale/used car. Still wouldn't mind a direct confirmation if anyone has went through the process
Two more are coming different colors.....this dealer are not making markups like some dealer's that want 5000$ over Toyota sticker.....
Wow, a week ago they just had the red one on site. Now a white one with more coming. I wish I had gone with Baxter. Mine is suppose to hit port on the 15th. Nice looking cars...I don't care what anyone else says.
Samprocat, looks like you got yours. How do you like it. Was it easy working with Baxter? Looks like they have 5 on site.

Little fighting around my trade in 55+k is what many dealers hate.....my is finally here from the ⛵ will be from LA To Kansas on then on here to Lincoln.....sometime by end of this month....anyway I'm playing with my wife Prime we bought from East coast
Last night I hit cars(dot)com for the Prime, something I do for amusement every few days, just to check how many hundreds of miles away a Prime might be hiding from Chicago. "Might" because many of those listings are fake and no more than dealer hook and reel. Oddly, one showed up only 6 miles from me in Westmont, IL. I called at 9am this morning and they said it was real, in the showroom, no more than 6 feet from her. It was a Plus trim, Mag Grey with black interior, just the color combo I am looking for. I made a quick trip over there because I wanted to see the Prime, the first I've seen with my own eyeballs. Very nice looking car. Impressions: The rear hatch didn't at all seem lightweight. If they saved 6 lbs. on the material, they added 6 pounds in the larger glass area. The dip in the glass looked OK to me and in keeping with the car's styling. I liked the front more than I thought I would, but that's why I'd be going for the Magnetic Grey -- so the contrast in the chevrons would blend in more with the black grille. The back and front seats were much more comfortable than my Gen3, by leaps and bounds. I was disappointed in the glove compartment space, as I think we all are. The owner's manual wasn't even able to fit in when closed, at least in that pouch they give you. The charging cable was much smaller and lighter than I imagined. What surprised me the most was the recharge door being able to open with the car off. That's going to attract tricksters I think. Couldn't Toyota design that with a locking ability similar to the gas door? Now, about the price they were asking for the Plus?...
