2016 Prius Lower Console/Shifter Appliqué Package

I just ordered the black replacement for my new 2016 (if you have patience you can get a great deal!)...anyway, I'm starting to wonder how bad fingerprints are on the black. The screen and the glossy black area around the screen pick up fingerprints so easily. I assume this will be the same since it seems to be the same glossy black?

 

Replacement what? My Trim Two console is matte black, not shiny.

 

I have the three and my understanding was that the replacement dash console (being discussed in this thread) is the glossy version, not the matte that is standard in the one and two models.

Long story short-- I tried everything to dry as much as possible but I'm sure a decent amount fell below. Since you seem super knowledgeable about this-- what is under there? Could I have caused any major damage or is the Qi pad the only wiring at risk? I am mostly concerned about other components being damaged from it.

I called the dealership and they are charging a insane amount just to remove the console to check. Any help would be SO greatly appreciated!

You can open it yourself without any tool. You will find cables for the qi charger, bt antenna, power audio and USB connector. Parking brake cables are over there too, and a lot of noise isolating fabric. I found it myself pretty easily, and used qi wiring harness to power a GPS tracker.

Open the arm rest cover. Pull the vertical plastic plate towards the front of the car from the top. It will get loose easily. Now, place your finger through the free space behind the power, audio and USB connector and pull upwards. Be careful while lifting and loosing the plate. Harnesses are pretty short.

Done. You can do it in 10 seconds. No tools at all. No ridiculous charges.

They have. KCWhitney in another thread about the black shifter applique found the steering wheel applique on eBay. It comes from China. Mine came yesterday, it took 11 days. The pic shows a dayglo green applique, but the link has pics that also show a black one. They tell you to indicate that you want a black one in the notes when you order it. How does the steering wheel applique fasten? Does it appear made to last or just for a temporary change of color?

 

Here are pics of it front and back. It appears to have 2-sided tape all around the edge. I hope to mount it tomorrow morning (it's too hot out now). Will post before and after pics. The black plastic looks just like the black plastic of the center console where the Qi charger and cup holders are. I picked up alcohol wipes earlier to clean the existing white part on the steering wheel before applying it. It appears made to last. It doesn't bend at all.

One last question. Gloss or matte black? My level 2 Liftback has a matte black console.

 

It's gloss black.

 

How come so many people don't like the white console? It's the only thing in the interior that doesn't seem to attract dust, and always looks clean. (Plus it sparkles when the sun hits it, and matches my blizzard Pearl paint perfectly).

 

Ok, I mounted the black steering wheel applique today. The only hard part is getting the red backing off the 2-sided tape. After that, it took less than 10 seconds. It's all-black, the orange/red glow in the middle is reflected sunlight.

Attached are before and after pics as requested. The shifter applique is being installed this Thursday. Then the shifter and steering wheel will match the center console.

Bob, do you still have the instructions? I bought my Prius without the qi charger and now that I have a phone with it, I want to still a charger from underneath but I am afraid to break something...

$14.50, the first somewhat reasonable add-on for Toyota that I've ever seen.
