What's wrong with taking someone's word? We do it all the time out here in the midwest! I always do tell people though that I have references available upon request.

The problem is what has occurred with battery replacements being advertised by "companies" on Craigslist across the nation, including the Midwest. They have been pieced together battery packs and not complete packs as advertised. Despite their claims of quality and warranties the sellers have been almost impossible to track down and even if you do you can't get them to stand behind their products in any reputable manner. Too many people on this forum have seen too many customers of those shysters come here to complain about their experiences.

Yes, we have one of those around here, and I've replaced several of his junk batteries because he wouldn't return their calls. I helped one lady who he put off for over a month. She kept driving her car until a couple modules exploded inside the battery. He tells everyone his batteries are from 2009 Prius' with 45,000 miles. I can tell you for a fact they are not. He is out of Owensville, MO.

In case you don't know, a reconditioned one just reuses good, old modules from other battery packs. Since you have an '07, there's pretty good odds you could buy a pack that's loaded with 04-06 modules. I'd suggest you check with the larger, national chain auto parts stores that carry the doorman brand. They have a good warranty that you will most likely use; some folks here have reported 3 failures/returns.

    GOOD LUCK!

If you to keep it for another 5 to 10 year's I would get a brand new factory pack as everything else on the car you can especially but used. As a DIYer I recommend investing into the Prolong Grid Charger. Its for battery reconditioning to extend the life of the battery cells. I'm from eastern Iowa.

I agree with many of the comments. There are a bunch of people who replace a cell or two in your pack. this is a band aid. There are however places that completely test every cell in a pack and replace the problematic copper bus bars with nickel bars. Some so called rebuilders simply use a volt meter or a volt metrr combined with a light load device. We test every cells capacity before being balanced or cycled. we only use cells with 90% or more of original capacity. we then test the charge and discharge performance of each cell and discard any that are not within our rigid specifications. The equipment alone to do this costs over $15,000. I can bet someone who charges $700-900 to drive out and change the battery is not doing this. I am not knocking them however there is s difference for sure. Also cells can be balanced and cycled to regain lost capacity. This is a temporary fix however. A completely remanufactured battery will outlast a rebuilt. And a new battery will outlast a remanufactured battery. It is all a matter of which provides the best value.

Williamson's, you guys do Gen 1 Prius batteries?
Do you put Toyota Gen 1 Prius cells in them? (The plastic-sided ones, not the metal sided-ones)
