    On a serious note, there is interference via electronics on other electronics. I suppose in rare instances electronics might interfere with a handful of people that have high sensitivity to RF I. In the United States, the FCC regulates how shielded all Electronics have to be to prevent them from effecting other devices - and effecting people in some instances.

    Self healing tires are more heavy and once they get old become very loud.....and MPG will drop....so you are still better with ordinary tires

    this is interesting. if the bolt can go 230 miles with run flats, what does that translate to with michelin energy savers?

    I think you are thinking of run-flat tires. These don't seal up any punctures; they just have thick side walls that can support the car at lower speeds over a short distance. TPMS is a must with them.

    I believe the Bolt will the first onroad vehicle with self-sealing tires. I've seen them for years for bicycles, wheelbarrows, and ATVs at Wal-Mart. There is a layer of tire goo sandwiched into the tread portion of the tire. I expect higher weight than a standard tire, but not near what a run-flat weighs.

    My 2023 Bolt EUV has 3 separate coolant tanks. Those should probably be inspected (i.e. levels checked) once a year or so (can do it yourself) and possibly topped off. But yea, it's not going to leak into the engine, so I'm guessing it's not a big deal. Otherwise, yea I think it must be pretty simple.

    Ownership cost of Kona EVs! Look at the attached pages from the 2021 Kona User Manual
    Pay attention to Coolant Change p. 7-8. Kona has a single one coolant container. If the colour is blue (cars built after mid 2020, or had their battery replaced - like mine), the cost of this service is floating between C$700 - $900! Apparently the cost and the quantity of the coolant required are the issues. Note that this MUST be done, preferably by a a dealer, to maintain the 8 year HV battery and EV drive components warranty. :mad: This stuff is very expensive! Labour between 1 and 2 hrs. These coolants are new for EVs, they are low or no conductive to reduce/eliminate battery fires caused by coolants leaking into the battery. Supposedly the reason for many battery fires.

    The other notable item is changing the Reduction Gear Fluid! ~ C$200 So much for changing windshield vipers and cabin filters only.

    As a personal note re. the cost of Tesla tires. If you stop burning rubber they will last longer! :LOL:

    Wow! .... this zombie thread - with a tangent onto Hyundai / Kia maintenance costs? It really begs it's own thread. What kind of implications does this coolant change / price gouge have for the newer electric vehicles from this company? Ioniq 5? ioniq 6? EV 5 & 6? Special blue coolant that can only be changed via tooling at the company service centers costing 4 figures? This has to be the most evil ingenious ways around the Magnuson Moss warranty requirements imaginable.

    Gear oil doesn't last forever. Checking the differential fluid is a regular maintenance item for other models, and like brake fluid, it probably should be one on more. Note the service schedule is calling to inspect it. This means just cracking open the fluid port to the level, and see if it's discolored.

    Sounds like they are using the same coolant as is used in some computers. That can get pricey at $20 a liter. Heard it can gunk up over time, which is likely why Hyundai wants to change it every 40k miles. Subaru's Super Coolant is also blue. Just saying.:cautious:

    Here is my Bolt euv 2023 maintenance schedule. Tire rotations and lube jobs at 7500, air filters at 22,500 miles, 100k replace hood and body lift struts (not sure what that is), and 150k or 5 years (?) Replace coolant.

    Just don't look up traction battery replacement costs for a Bolt...last I looked it was $16,000. Big "I'm out" for me.... (and same reason I'll never buy a Tesla)

    I was going to write off your concern as Batteries don't usually fail and then I read this article and it bought up a fact I hadn't really considered- What happens when an EV gets in a wreck

    Scratched EV battery? Your insurer may have to junk the whole car (msn.com)

    I've never heard people discuss this particular disadvantage of EV vehicles.

    It has probably been covered by what happens if an EV get fully submerged in water?

    Even after 100's of thousands of miles - Tesla's & other manufacturers show less than 20% capacity loss - which still leaves more range than several other EV's. So as a rational for not going ev - That's like saying "I'm out" because replacing a 200k mile GM's LS5 & tranny with labor may cost upwards of 4 or 5 figures. Never mind most car buyers cycle thru cars well before 200K miles.
    you mean it's the same as a gaser? it's salvaged? yes of course no surprise there. As for the article about battery damage in an EV, why should that be surprising that the car would be salvaged. Any car that's a few years old can get salvaged as well - if even their air bags are deployed.
