I'm starting to look at sources for replacement cabin and engine air filters. So far I have this for the engine air filter... Genuine OEM Toyota 17801-37021 Engine Air Filter Prius, Prius V, Prius Plug-In | eBay ...and I think this for a cabin filter... The description of the cabin filter simply says compatible with 2016 Prius. It does specifically say Prius v. So the question is are 2016 Prius and 2016 Prius v cabin filters the same? Any other thoughts on places to purchase filters online?
I found this document which means I can search for Toyota part numbers for the two filters in question... This site... Genuine OEM Air & Cabin Filters for Your Toyota ...points to the document... http://www.toyota.com/toyota-owners-theme/pdf/02_AirFilters2015_final[1].pdf
Personally, depending on the price for a real Toyota filter -- for the cabin filter I would go with TYC. Rock auto shows: TYC 800108C {#8713950060, 8713950100} Premium - Higher Pleat Count; Carbon Filter Info Location: Glove Box; Carbon Filter * Stocked in outlying warehouse--shipping delayed up to 1 business day $9.18
I go to Rock auto for all my maintenance stuff. I buy a bunch at a time for multiple cars to cut down on shipping. You can get it from who the OEM supplier is, so unless there is something to do with warranty, I'd just go with that, get a couple. Still going to be cheaper, most likely. XT1575 ?
We're at 65,000 kms with our 2010, still on both cabin and engine original filters. The cabin filter looks a bit knackered, the engine filter virtually like new still. I would hold off on all the research and angst. Pick them up just as you need them, Toyota filters from the dealership parts department. The cost variations are trivial, and third party may have issues.
I'm not rushing out to buy them by any means. Just want an idea of where others buy filters when the time comes. I do see Toyota branded OEM filters online so I can compare costs with my dealer. Like you I inspect first....
