Hi. Been diving a 2011 Prius for 5 years and am now looking at Prime Premium. On the 2011 the dash has consistently been 3 or more MPG higher than hand calculation. Just wondering if the Prime's is more accurate. Thanks
No, the Prime does not seem to be more accurate. For my last fill up I had 60 mpg from the pump, 63.5 according to the car. Previously I have seen the car give numbers that were 2-2.5 mpg better than actual numbers derived from fill-ups.
Prime has a range of 25 miles. Since I bought it before the year ended I have just been charging it and driving. Have not visited a gas station. With a 4 to 5 thousand rebate from the government and state Prime is a great buy. The ride is better than many luxury cars on the road. The cabin is quiet and I love the 15inch wheels. It is loaded with technology and the new features are amazing.
I haven't been able to calculate the actual mpg yet since I bought the car on December 3rd. Still have the original tank of gas from the dealership. Looks like I will find out sometime in the beginning of February, which will be over 2 months from when I bought it new. The car is saying right now that I have 171 mpg average with 160 miles until empty on the original tank of gas. I have driven 1375 on the odometer so far. Hopefully I won't forget how to put gas in a car. Heck, I haven't even touched the gas cap yet!! LOL Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
I did a couple long stretches of driving mostly ~70-75 mph, and the MPG on the dash was higher (by about 5) than when I calculated based on my trip meter and the amount of gas used to fill the tank.
I ended up filling up on February 26th 2017 with 199.9 mpg on the dash. Today, I still have that same tank of gas with over 10,000 miles on it. I am purposively using the gas this month so it won't go bad. I don't plan on putting any more gas in the tank until I see a need to go on a long trip. In about a years time, I have driven at 98% EV. Here is a video of my tripometer rolling over at 10,000 miles with 98% of EV showing on the dash.
Nope. Just my trusty Prius Prime on pavement. It isn't idea for offroading. So I just stick to the roads.
