i was resonding to michelle in the post above, doesn't matter with your problem, other than the other door worked 2 out of 4 times. honestly never heard of this before. can't imagine what cold has to do with it, but maybe there's a caveat in the o/m.

"Make sure to touch the sensor on the back of the handle." Never knew there was one. No such rule for my '06. But I'll keep this in mind. Thanks. Guess I should read whole manual. Again. Painful experience, though.

you got that right. maybe just ignore it, and it will go away, eventually.

The dealer, my wife, and I decided today to wait until I am allowed to take off my heart monitor (in ten days) to further pursue a fix, assuming it's causing interference, since problems only began AFTER beginning to wear it December 29, my wife pointed out. Reasonable?

However, I'll read up on how to properly open doors, even though I assure you I never had a frequent problem for ten plus years with my '06.

I'll keep data, mentally, about whether gloves or grasping door handle's opening sensor (once I locate it) suggests a pattern.

that's probably it, there's a warning about pacemakers.

…it's right there on p. 37 (Destruction Manual for my 2009 Gen II - but the 3-second rule has caught me out a few times! ;))

I just started looking at the 2006 manual and see this caution.

The locking sensor is marked on the forward outside of the handle, my understanding and experience is that the entire INNER surface of the handle is the unlocking sensor.

I do not always touch the handle if I am just unlocking the car. I just place my fingers between the handle and the door.

Reporting back, as promised (?). A particular pair of gloves seems to cause erratic opening. Bare hand never a problem. Same so far with different pair of gloves. Haven't tried problem gloves on '06. Assume same erratic opening. If not, I'll be bahck.

when i have gloves on, i usually have to try several times to lock, pressing very hard. unlocking is never an issue.

I've never tried opening it with gloves on - that would be when I'm either welding; or pruning the hedge.
