I'm seeking a clean looking or OEM LED work light for the hatch area of my 4 Touring. I'm surprised one isn't stock on this model. I don't think I've ever had a car that didn't come with one, although the Golf was pretty dismal.
there's no hatch light, even on package four? mine is on the inside of the fender, with an on off switch.
Yeah, I was just gonna say that it's duller than my old Cub Scout knife! That's why I only use my hatch in the daytime. LOL!
Where did you mount it - or did you replace the bulb in the small lamp enclosure? When it's really dark, I've opened a side door which increases the light very slightly, seeing there are 2 interior lights. That's when I convince myself that I NEED a brighter boot light - till I forget again.
I put this type of 12 LED lights in our hatch light fixture. I prefer the warm white color, they also sell the cool white ones as well: 2 x Light Panel 12 SMD LED 42mm Dome Festoon Bulbs Reading Light Warm White | eBay
Don't you just love the language we inherited from the UK folks? The first post in this thread has at least 3 interpretations and only one was intentional. 1. Cannot find Cargo Light 2. Replace cargo lamp with LED 3. Add additional LED cargo lighting. Although options 2 & 3 are more common in this forum, option 1 was the correct one in this case.
The US has corrupted the English language & measurements. Canada is a little better, but they still tend to use hood/trunk instead of bonnet/boot. All 4 of those terms already have alternative definitions, though. Isn't precision grand?
US English is actually apparently the original old English. It's the English who eventually corrupted it! Sorry for hijacking the thread. @krmcg - did you use a similar LED to close riders? @xliderider - was it a fairly easy job, without special tools? A direct exchange with no adapters needed, perhaps?
... aargh. That should have been, '...similar LED to xliderider's.' (The dangers of predictive texting on a mobile keyboard!)
