Looks like Europe and Asia will be getting the better version of this vehicle... no mention of a hybrid drive-train for the US market.

    Canadian-spec models are different

SEXY AND SPORTY HIT THE STREETS: 2018 C-HR USHERS IN AN EXCITING CHAPTER OF TOYOTA STYLE, VERSATILITY, AND PERFORMANCE | Toyota Canada

    XLE standard equipment:
    • 17" alloys (vs. 18" alloys in the US)
    • Heated front seats (US requires upgrade to XLE Premium)

No hybrid makes sense because the CH-R was originally destined to be a Scion vehicle and Toyota wasn't planning on any hybrid vehicles for the Scion brand. This means certification and all that jazz was not part of the initial plan/rollout.

My guess is that it'll come mid-cycle at the earliest.

The new 2.0 litre VVT-i Valvematic engine is impressive. Too bad no manual will be offered (but I understand the targeted buyer probably doesn't care cause a manual is too much work :p)

I just ordered a Toyota C-HR hybrid fully loaded, In Holland it is called the Bi-Tone Plus. With the LED head and backlights, the JBL superstereo etc etc Colour Blue, like the one in the Hilux.
It will be at the dealer at the 13th of december.
So it's gonna be sleepless nights for about 4 weeks... :)

I just picked it up at the dealer. Absolutely great looking car, specially in blue and black roof. Drives great, firm frame, nice short turning cycle. Cruise control till 0 km is super, so relaxed in traffic jams. Usage:first ride, 4,4 liter per 100.

    Congratulations!
I'm interested in fuel consumption at different speeds, I mean: 90/100/110/120/130/140 km/h
In fact, I've read a review with a significant consumption difference between Prius & C-HR at high speeds (140km/h).
Note that odometer values are shifted (for C-HR: odometer 96 -> real 90, 149 -> 140). To avoid wind, etc., an average value in both directions can be used.
    Thanks.

Very first impression: C-HR sips a bit less than my Prius Plus (Wagon). My topspeed was only 110 km/h.

I would very much like to see that kind of comparison review (Prius vs C-HR), tried to search the internet but couldn't find anything... Could you provide a link? Thanks in advance :)
I'm interested in the consumption difference and also performance. The both cars are sharing the same TNGA platform and hybrid powertrain but still it feels like there is quite a difference.

As I heard the gearing is lower, that means lower top speed and lower speed with engine off (engine free spin). I also heard that Prius has better sound insulation.

Fuel economy diference will depend on speed, in the city there won't be much diference, but on the highway it could be a lot more.

Most early media reviews are of the hybrid model. Note that a 1.2 litre turbo is available in Europe. In North America, it's a 2.0 litre engine.

At present, only Italian/Polish links, here is my comment:

FUEL CONSUMPTION - PRIUS vs C-HR Hybrid :
Shortly, the estimation of average fuel consumption:
    4.4 l/100km (Prius 4G, 215 R17) + ~1.0 l = ~5.4 l (C-HR Hybrid, 225 R18)
    Prius 2016 (fuelly.com): avg. 4.0-4.7 l (50-58 mpg), ~4.4 l/100 km
    Prius 2016 (spritmonitor.de): avg. 4.0-4.9 l, ~4.4 l/100 km
C-HR Hybrid: no data in Jan 2017
    Links: fuelly http://tinyurl.com/jxz3bvl , spritmonitor http://tinyurl.com/z6s7kyn
    conversions (mpg, l/100km) http://tinyurl.com/h68tpb7

First of all, a significant consumption difference between Prius & C-HR (see Test #3) is only in case of constant high speed. Real highway driving is usually limited to 130 km/h (EU), moreover, real driving means continuous acceleration and deceleration including recuperation of energy. In this case, the fuel consumptions are comparable for both hybrids (see Test#1).
Generally, Prius is about "fuel consumption" and C-HR is more about "response". Following, C-HR is willing to immediately switch on the combustion engine (except first quarter of throttle). Anyway, lightfoot driving means comparable fuel consumption (see Test#2).
Note that all cars are new and fuel consumption will be slightly lower and overall dynamics better in 10,000 km. The test results for normal driving, lightfoot driving & constant speed are as follows:

    TEST #1 - AutoBild Poland:
    Normal driving, Prius 4G in spring (215 R17), C-HR in winter (225 R18)
    City: Prius 4G (3.8 - 5.1 l) vs C-HR (4.0 - 5.5 l)
    Highway (limit 140 km/h): Prius 4G (5.7 l) vs C-HR (6.9 l)
    Average (160 km of roads mix): Prius 4G (4.5 l) vs C-HR (5.6 l)
    Factory claim (Poland, avg.): Prius 4G (3.6 l) vs C-HR (3.9 l)
Note that Prius in Central Europe has a slightly higher ground clearance (avg. consumption +0.3 l).
    Links: Prius http://tinyurl.com/jaz5ehk , C-HR http://tinyurl.com/zjdgtua

    TEST#2 - OmniAuto Italy:
    Lightfoot driving Roma-Forli, Prius 4G in spring (215 R17), C-HR in winter (225 R18)
    360 km of highway (69% with limit 110 km/h, 26% with limit 130 km/h, 5% city) at average speed 76 km/h
Prius 4G with summer tires and low rolling resistance "C", C-HR with wider winter tires and high rolling resistance "F"
    Average consumption in test: Prius 4G (3.46 l) vs C-HR (4.43 l)
    Factory claim (Italy, avg.): Prius 4G (3.3 l) vs C-HR (3.9 l)
Note that C-HR consumption can be lower (~4.0 l) and closer to Prius 4G using:
    1. tires with low rolling resist. "B" (e.g., Michelin CrossClimate R17) 4.43l -> ~4.2l
    2. tires 215/R17 (C-HR basic level) ~4.2l -> ~4.0l

    Competition http://tinyurl.com/mq2mhnz

    TEST#3 - AutoCentrum Poland:
    City & Constant speed, Prius 4G in autumn (215 R17), C-HR in winter (225 R18)
    City lightfoot: Prius 4G (3.0 l) vs C-HR (3.4 l)
    City dynamic: Prius 4G (7.0 l) vs C-HR (8.5 l)
    First 3 km: Prius 4G (7.5 l in autumn) vs C-HR (9.0 l in winter)
    Constant speed 90 km/h (odometer 96 km/h): Prius 4G (3.0 l) vs C-HR (4.2 l)
    Constant speed 140 km/h (odometer 149 km/h): Prius 4G (6.5 l) vs C-HR (10.2 l)
    Factory claim (Poland, avg.): Prius 4G (3.6 l) vs C-HR (3.9 l)
Note that C-HR has lower speed limit (170 km/h, lower gearing) and worse aerodynamics.
