2016 two would you buy one?

I don't think you would get $4,000 of value for an eco over a two. I thought they were $500 different initially, maybe you are seeing a special deal for the two? It only gets a couple more MPG and the lithium ion battery instead of NiMH. And you lose the spare tire if I remember right.

I would take the plain two out of your choices. You'll still get the displays you referred to.

 

you lose the rear wiper in the eco. see the visual tables. my big concern with the eco is the tyres. swap the with the 2, and what happens to mpg's?

 

heat reducing windshield to lower a/c use.

 

Are the rims different? Maybe distinctive covers, meh.

Anyway: more expensive, no spare, no wiper, white interior trim, obscure, hard to replace tires? Couple that with new battery with same performance specs?

For me that equals: go for the 2, over Eco.

But the ransacked storage, wheel covers, exterior and interior styling? I'm happy with our 2010 Touring.

 

I got the eco instead of the two primarily for the battery. If the spare is a big deal for you, get the two. There is only a $500 difference between them, so money shouldn't be a driving factor.

 

Since my car came w/ the shifter applique, the only white I have is on the steering wheel, and just at 9 and 3 o'clock, it's black at 6... It is a TWO eco, so it's not all white like the higher specs.

I started my prii search on used Gen3's, but dealers were looking for $15K for 4 y/o cars w 35K (or so miles)... Not much more (ok,$5k) to get a new one w/ the rebate and leftover discounts.

I really would have liked the storage area under the rear cargo area.

 

Yeah it's a mix. I'm really conflicted by this new Prius, appreciate it has superlative mpg and improved handling. We're fixed income, and having a low mileage 2010, both make up part of the decision to stay put.

The rest, maybe sour grapes, lol.

 

The 2 batteries, regardless of chemistry, have the same spec? And as I asked earlier: is there a different rim, 2 vs 2 Eco? I don't think so.

The 2 Eco does manage to pull better mpg. Nobody's really sure how, and it doesn't seem to be completely due to the obvious additions and deletions. I'd speculate the car is somehow tuned differently? The regular 2016 is no slouch though.

Didn't realize there was that big a difference on the used market. I don't see that many new ones on the road, so I didn't think there was really enough on the used market to really draw any price trending. Learn something new every day.

Did a quick check on cars.com and was surprised by the number of used 2016's out there... 2016's have only been available since Jan 2016, I wonder what kind of person gets rid of a car within the first year!

The Eco also has additional door lock/unlock sensors on the passenger and hatch handles (what ever that feature is called) as opposed to just the driver door. Add up all the differences, the Eco is not worth $2k more than the Two, imho.

 

The Two Eco's Lithium Ion battery is smaller and weighs less than the Two's Nickle-Metal Hydride battery so there is some weight savings there.
