I'm thinking of purchasing a used Prius Plug-in because I can't stand my Ford C-Max Energi. The lack of trunk space, squeaks and rattles, and limited 40 mpg are beginning to get at me. Having said all this, which year should I consider? 2013 seem to be priced right given my budget and mileage. Or maybe I should wait for a used 2017 in a year or so.
The 2017 Prius Prime has only 4 seats. Do you really need a Plugin? Perhaps the Prius Hatchback or Prius v might be better options. I usually get over 50 mpg and sometimes over 60 mpg with my Prius Hatchback.
At 19.8 cu.ft., Prime has the same hatch space as the Energi just laid out differently. FWIW My door seals sometimes squeak but a quick wipe down with silicone spray gets 'em quite again. No rattles. Good Luck in your search!
get a 2012 or 13 pip. all the advantages of prius, except the spare tyre. check out a prime, the raised deck makes the hatch a little smaller. but there is a lot to like otherwise.
I've had the PiP 2012 and have the Prius Prime Premium (middle trim). The incentives brought it down to be less than my purchase of my 2010 Prius. I have a few gripes (very technical) but love the car. It's a true Plugin vehicle where-as the PiP seemed like an experimental toy (that I still loved). If you can get get past that it's a 4 seater and you're looking for an economical plugin that feels much grandeur than one, that is the car to buy. I still have to test the Hybrid efficiency but I've been getting 26 miles EV easily in 20-40 F degree weather! Can't wait until it hits 60 (but winter just started lol). Oh yeah, the heat pump is amazing. I know this has been out on the volt, but it's niiiice...
