Well, that's certainly impressive. I drove to the Bay Area last week. I set the cruise to 68 mph. I set the AC to 69 degrees for the entire trip. I drove in the eco mode. It was a trip over two hundred miles up and down three mountain passes (the one I live on gets count only once). I got 68 mpg in the MID. I have a four with ATP and PCP. I think all the trim levels are pretty close in terms of what they'll get for gas mileage. That is, they can all meet the Eco's EPA rating and exceed it. And the Eco seems to get a few miles better than everyone else.

It seems as though the real difference on the Eco is the tires. And I can't imagine that they'll only get 10k miles. They should be good for at least triple that (or more). They should surely get at least that of the other trim levels. That's just my guess, wild opinion, and has no bearing on real facts.

In any case, all trim levels share the basic nice amenities and options. They are nice cars.

This old brain and its two thumbs struggled to get up and running on fuely today. Tried to find you without success but I'm RCO on PC ( without spaces)!

Did about 350 miles over last weekend and my average has fallen to 62mpg (UK) but that included about 200 miles of motorway driving at 70-80mph

It was my understanding in 2009 when the Gen.III first came out and had the 17'' wheels as an option, those models were actually rated at 48 MPG, versus the 50 MPG the standard Prius with 15'' wheels was rated. HOWEVER, because Toyota was only going to build a certain percentage of Prius models with the 17'' wheels, they didn't have to put the lower 48 MPG combined rating on their window stickers.

This is all just theory, but I'm guessing that all Gen.IV Prius models with the 15'' wheels could probably be rated the same 58/53/56 MPG the ECO model gets, but I bet since there are now more grades of Prius that have the 17'' wheels as standard, and a higher percentage of models with the 17'' wheels are going to be made, Toyota may have had to apply the lower 54/50/52 MPG ratings to all models. With the ECO model being the exception, of course.

In the US, only 3 Touring & 4 Touring have 17" wheels./ 2, 2 Eco, 3, & 4 all have the same 15" tires although the rims may be different.

Where did you see the 10,000 Mike tire from? I didn't look in the manual yet, but the Toyota care pamphlet recommends rotating my tires every 5000 miles, which is free for the first 5 times (25,000 miles).

Gentleman, I remember you once compared NOx emission of Prius eco and Prius, do you have any points about their difference?

My manual recommends maintenance, including rotating tires every 5000 miles and oil changes every 10000 miles.
So does your manual, according to Toyota.
