I should have expanded upon what I experienced. The drug test was part of a job interview. The immunoassay test was just a screening. We know the opiate result was a false positive because the sample was then sent to a lab for more definitive testing.

If used for law enforcement, immunoassay tests for THC need to be followed up by such definitive testing, and ideally the immunoassay screen test should only be used when a police officer trained to recognize marijuana intoxication suspects it to be involved.

 

Drug tests for any purpose need to be followed up by GCMS or equivalent following a screening test. And I am not at all sure what training would be involved that would give an officer or anyone else the ability to recognize marijuana intoxication, although I am sure many police officers will claim the ability.
