I notice they got rid of the white console tray on 2017 Prius!

No! I know what some are thinking ... These pictures from 2 sites are definitely a 2017 Prius trim level 4.
    Take a look...

Interesting - they're different around the gearshift?

If I was in town I'd like to slip in and try the Saucer Full of Secrets coda on it. :)

Yeah so basically there's a new applique for the shifter surround. Nice.

My 2016 model has two black appliqués. It looks like these pictures as far as I can see.

........I really like my white console and shift area. It is a great contrast to the black soft tex interior. Though the black doesn't look bad on the Prime. I just hate how the black plastic cover looks cheap cause you can still see white under it.

Did anyone else notice the matte black dash vs the high gloss black console tray?

My 2017 Two definitely has gloss on the dash. I think the console is matte. Is that a US picture?
That picture is not a Two. Too many options on the Audio screen.

It's not an AUSTRALIAN - for some odd (awful) reason, we don't get knobs on our radio!!! :(

You mean like the volume controls, they're on a touch screen? That sounds on par with cell phone texting.

Yes, the volume controls mainly - they're on my side, and my 87yr old mum reaches across to increase/decrease volume and unless the road is super smooth, her finger has trouble finding the right spot. An they're SO SLOW to react, if something really loud comes on, it seems like ages before it's dropped enough to be comfortable. No MUTE button either which my last car had. If it's a CD, you can press PAUSE, but not radio.

And with CD, you can't scroll back through a track if you've missed something (on a PODCAST), except by holding the up/down buttons on the screen - NOT the steering wheel buttons which only change track. The Steering Wheel will apparently do it with MP3s played from the phone, but my old phone won't play music. GRRRR.

Hopefully next time we're car hunting some manufacturer will still have an econobox with lowly knobs... o_O

It could be worse - I still regularly use CDs, both pre-recorded, and ones ReWriteable. All the time. VW GOLF showed a CD player in their specifications, I asked the salesman where it was, and he opened the glovebox and it was hanging in the top, looking like a tacked-on afterthought. I suggested to him that it was a safety issue. He responded "Why?" I said that I couldn't imagine changing a CD while on the move, to which he said that "NOBODY WOULD EVER DO THAT". Hmmm - I've changed Cassette Tapes on the move, and later CDs since 1974.

I have tried putting them on USB sticks, but the PRIUS then plays them in random order, which, with a multi-segment PODCAST, or a Mozart Symphony, is just WRONG!!

CD players are being phased out over here. The Chevrolet Sonic was the first car without a CD player in any model. The RAV4 Limited (and Hybrid Limited) as well the Prime Advanced do not have CD players. CD changers were being phased out in the early 2010s. Manufacturers went back to single slot CD players once they started adding USB ports. I can see why but once in a while, when I do play a CD in the car, it sounds so much better compared to songs that I ripped from my CD collection (even at 320kbps).

Remember the days when the CD changer was in the boot? Who thought that was a great idea?

Yep, had one in my VOLVO 940GLE. I automatically scrubbed any car without CD player off my list - weren't a lot, though. The quality through USB is poor, and when I did manage to get my MOBILE PHONE to play, it sounded worse still. Manufacturers need to get their act together better - it's not like the old DIN/Double DIN days where you could go down the CarAudio store and tell them to rip it out and put a better one in. Today they're integrated in with so many functions in the car, that would be impossible.

With the Prime's 11.6" screen, probably. I think the regular Prius and base Prius Prime should be ok with a head unit swap. All you lose is the steering wheel controls (vol, track... maybe the phone too?)

All in the interest of theft prevention, I believe. Never mind is less user friendly!

I just verified the on the US Two the dash is glossy, matte black console, with white around the shifter. There is a black shifter applique available, though.
