Hi guys just bought 2014 prius used from Lexus dealer. Now they want me to take bumper to bumper warranty from Lexus for 1250 dollar 2 yrs.Should I take this warranty.? Thanks this forum really help me buy Prius . Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Wouldn't do it. I would be surprised if anything at all broke on a 2014 in 2 years. That reliability is probably why you're looking at a Toyota in the first place!
you don't have to buy a warranty to extend until the day before the factory warranty runs out. So that gives you about a year to decide. But for now? Don't worry about it.
Don't buy it. That's way too expensive for 2 years. You can buy an actual extended warranty from many Toyota dealers, for around that same price you'd be able to get around 4-5 years. Go on rav4world.com and do a search, you'll find the contact info there. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
OK thanks .ill deny the insurance but i am scared if anything happens then it would cost a lot to fix the car. This car has 40k miles on it now so does it have any warranty left from Toyota? If the car broke within 30 days then can I return the car ? Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Aha. You didn't mention it had 40K in just two years. Yes, the traction pack, inverter, and other hybrid component it's 100,000 miles. In carb States - it's a hundred fifty thousand miles & 8yrs iirc. .
Yep it had 2 owner also and it was in good condition with brand new tire.it was 14980 and I spoke for hour to make it 14000 dollar. Now the second financial guy is trying to sel the warranty. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
I didn't see any warranty on this website. Can u send me the link plz? Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
the warranty is in the warranty manual you should get with the car. 1/12 on everything, 3/36 on the drivetrain, 5/60 on emissions, and 8/100 or 10/150 on the hybrid components. if you will sleep better with a 2 year warranty, purchase it. you can't buy peace of mind.
Here it is: Buying an Extended Warranty? READ THIS FIRST!! - Page 35 - Toyota RAV4 Forums Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
I've heard the markup / profit on these things is criminal. Don't remember where I read that.. I think some or all also have exclusions that disappoint. When I bought my Prius, I looked into the same question here on PC.com. Universally, every thread I could find was filled with advice to avoid these things. For those who actually examine it, it really seemed like common knowledge. So I assume it is. Consumer Reports says extended warranty is overpriced. They say to never do it. My guess is that the fundamentals on extended warranties are terrible, a few junkers driving up the cost for everyone. Either that or the markets not competitive. Something. Whatever the case, they're known to be terrible deals. That said, IIRC, I think there's a thread here on PC pointing to some dealer's salesman who gives a lower price than most on EW's.
My Gen 3 2012 got it with 14,000 it had 107,000 never had an issues. I trade it in June 2016 for a Gen 4 . Prius are awesome. I told them no back then. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
