Hi guys, my brother recently bought an 2017 Honda Accord and he wants blue headlights to match his DRLs. He saw a bunch of vids on youtube with the kits and I told him it was illegal lol. Now his only choices is to do a retro fit and im still against that because of the opening of the headlights. Even with warning him he still wants to go a head and do it. So instead of buying the kit Im just going to try and install the leds from the prius v.

My question is, where would I be able to buy the headlights from? And would they fit into the back of the headlights.

Where to find Prius v LED headlights? Easy. eBay.

Where is he planning to lawyer-up for the vehicle traffic law citations?

If the Accord has projector headlights, install 6000K HID bulbs using an AC ballast kit.

The 6000K color temperature should match the LED DRLs pretty well.

Stick with a 35w kit, don't go for the 50/55w kits out there.

Why do you think they're made for foglights and not recommended for other H11 applications (headlights)? Because they don't have good beam patterns due to the circuit board right down the middle of the light assembly.

Most state laws are fairly broad when it comes to vehicle specifications and, in particular, lighting. For instance, the whole of New York's law on headlights stipulates at least two light sources at the front of the vehicle, aimed so that the top of the beam is two inches lower than the headlight itself at a distance of 25 feet, or no higher than 42 inches from the ground at 75 feet; no more than 32 candlepower; and, if you want to sell headlights in the state, you must provide a set of instructions and a photograph of the beam showing that it meets the above specifications. That's it, and that's one of the more comprehensive state laws for headlights. Illinois' law simply reads, "A person shall install only head lamps that satisfy United States Department of Transportation regulations and show white light, including that emitted by HID lamps, or light of a yellow or amber tint for use by a motor vehicle."

So, retrofitting already-approved headlamp assemblies, as the OP's brother is now planning to do, is probably completely legal as long as they are aimed properly. That said, I have yet to hear or read about anyone being cited for aftermarket headlights, let alone retrofitted lights, and a Google search turns up nothing (but plenty of hits for citations for burned-out lights).

"Blue" headlights? Blue is reserved for emergency or public service vehicles.
