How long to wait if I wanted to order exactly what I want?

Ordered mine Nov. 7th. Was told it would be early to mid Jan 2017. To get everything you want I would go ahead and order one.

I ordered mine (Prime Advance) the third week in August. Got exactly what I wanted. Arriving at the dealer in Kingston NY the second week in December. It is white with moonshine. Also ordered the protection package, the black accent for console and shifter, glass breakage alarm, mat package and color option. Not much of a discount though I expected that. Now three more weeks of wait.

Ordered mine about the 18th or so of October, expected to be here in December but the dealership said "guaranteed in 75 days" which puts the latest it will arrive early January but I'm constantly bugging my dealership for updates

 

I know a dealer that has that combo.

 

Are the accessories (i.e., side moulding, clear paint protector, alarm system) put on in the factory or elsewhere?

 

Some things are at factory, some are at port, some are at dealer.

I ordered from a dealer in Milwaukee who indicated it would come in 6-8 weeks and they provided a vin for the car. I don't know if that means it is one already manufactured or still to be made.

After ramping up production and especially after January 2017 to have one built for you will take
2 weeks to built
13 days to ship to port in CA.....and
5-10 days to haul on truck
My was ordered November 27 with some delay because of Midwest .....couple days before Happy New Year...and will be here 1 or 2nd week of February.....

 

I ordered mine Nov. 7th. Suppose to be here now. Then got the run around. When I called to say I might have a lead at another dealership, all of a sudden mine was to be build Jan. 30th, be in California Feb 15th, and to dealership early March. If I am getting my chain yanked again, I will not be a happy camper. So, if I am lucky, my car's birthday is in 8 days. Can't decide to paint the garage blue or pink. Maybe I should have a shower. I could use some accessories.

 

I ordered mine December 15th, and got a call that one with slightly more equipment than I asked for was at their lot on January 7. They did not charge me for the extra equipment ($245.00). They traded for it from another dealership.

 

Ordered a Prius Prime advanced on January 9th in Northern Wi, dealer says car could be out 8 months.

Sent a question about typical lead times to ask Toyota on line and they sent back,
"We are sorry, our Customer Experience Center is not privy to information pertaining to vehicle orders. As such, we are not in a position to advise how soon you may expect your order to arrive.
Vehicle orders are arranged between our Toyota dealers and our regional offices. Please continue working with your Toyota dealer for any updates on your Prius Prime."

Wish I could get a do-over but didn't know then how availability was so different across the USA - thinking available in all 50 states meant well...50 states at least sort of equally. Live and learn...


February 11th update on order placed Jan 9th. Checked back with the dealer bringing the helpful information kindly provided by I'mJp but was unable to find out any information about my order. Dealer said that until the car is allocated and then shows up in their system information is not available. There was a general inquiry if April delivery would be ok but nothing specific to my order and no assurance that it would not arrive until September. The dealer said they would look for a car that was in shipping and could be diverted but that effort produced nothing.

For others in the upper Midwest - Chicago Toyota district it was mentioned that 35 primes were delivered but they were all sold units. The Chicago district does show 12 Primes in inventory today.

I realize these things take a bit of time but then again they have held my money for over a month yet are unable to offer any clue as to the status of my order. I cannot imagine that someone somewhere does not know at least approximately when an order placed over a month ago is likely to be fulfilled and/or built and shipped. As I mentioned in my first post, if I had a do over it would be road trip time.

March 9th On February 14th I sent a letter to Toyota Chicago region merchandise manager looking for an update on build or delivery information. I received no response from that inquiry. However on March 6th I received a call from the dealer, verified by a visit the following day, a VIN is assigned and the expected production date is 03/28/17 with vessel arrival mid April, delivery late May. I'm hoping maybe a little sooner but happy to know its in the works. So if this works out order to delivery will be around 4 1/2 months.

 

I have no affiliation with Toyota of Morristown, NJ, but they aren't too far (20-25 minutes tops) from Newark Airport and their website lists 11 Primes today, for those who want to consider a fly and drive purchase.

 

Once is ready to ship you will see Vin number..if dealership is giving you work around and not getting Vin....they are not telling you the truth.....

You should have vin number, if not, go back to the salesperson, and get it.
