Better than Our Last Time (BOLT), the EV1 apology. Now if they can just get Ed Begley Jr to do a commercial for them:

It's also hard to ignore the large incentives on the Bolt with many states kicking in too:
    $7,500 Fed tax credit
    $2,000 NY State tax credit

$9,500 off a $37,500 vehicle is nothing to sneeze at...:D

Is motor trend in the advertising business now? That reads like a multi million dollar ad.

    MERGED

Isn't it a tax credit? So you pay taxes on 9500 less income as opposed to taking 9500 off the price?

If GM gets an award, it should look like this:

It's off your tax liability due to the Fed or State tax collection agency.

If I owed $8k Fed taxes on my 2017 1040 and I purchased the bolt- I would only owe the Fed $500 in taxes.
Same as above with the NYS tax credit.

It worked like that when I bought the PIP in 2012.. I got $2,500 off my Fed tax liability and I got $7,500 off my 2014 Fed tax liability when I bought the Volt.

The Prime will have some level of Fed and maybe state tax credits based on it's battery size too.

Well Motor Trend obviously thinks this is the best car made this year so basically it is an ad every year when they give out this award. Nothing wrong with that.

Today's Drive section Bay Area News Group featured the Bolt with pics and article. Even though it has over 230 miles range, I don't think it will sell all that well. Why? Although the finishing touches are well done, it still basically looks like a small hatchback, something like or Honda Fit or the like.
So, when the customer sees Bolt's $37,500 sticker price, then see a gas equivalent for something like $19,000, they'll save the $18,000.

Those tax breaks could go away pretty soon with DJT. Cannot sell most people on guilt trip 'you should be green and save planet'. I was barely able to make the choice to buy a cordless lawnmower that I could return in 30 days with much beefier gas models sitting right next to it. How are average JJ's going to risk $30k + on the unknown electric car? Vast majority won't.

But, I think Tesla might do better with model 3: It still looks hot, like a smaller Model S, and some people are willing to spend bigger bucks on things that look exotic and drive great.

when you say, 'it won't sell well', do you mean mainstream gasser numbers, or not even better than leaf or something?

I guess it might sell a little bit more than Leaf numbers, like 1,500 Leafs, 1,800 Bolts in a month. Bolt base price is $8,500 over Leaf
