Must know who gets an "A" in your book. I'm probably an easier grader.

Would given them an "A+" for being the leading force of CARB, driving improving fuel efficiency standards for many years, and accelerating growth of plug-ins in North America, but lose the plus rating to just an "A" for some relatively minor gaffes. Still top of the class in my book.

Also, cases like Dieselgate may have been overlooked without the golden state.

    Last i checked - they don't
count .... GM is the largest shareholder iirc - kind of like Fiat owning Chrysler/Dodge - modernly it's a mixed-up world of who owns what.

GM owns Opel. My guess is Opel will get a version of the bolt.

I'd give california a gentleman's C. Diesel gate was exposed by a lab in west virginia, not california. If carb actually did good testing, yep they would have caught it, but neither the EPA or CARB want to find real world levels, too much politics for that. Carb had a fake phd cook up phony numbers on diesel to come to a conclusion it wanted, instead of doing proper engineering work.

EPA also a gentleman's C. If we grade on a curve maybe they both get A's I don't know, it depends on how much you grade.

German plug-ins all come with Bosch components and control, AFAIK. Doesn't mean each manufacturer knows less, but helps a lot in development...

Tideland has answered, but just to add the reminder that Opel has not released the Volt II version.

But that was when no one understood that the cheating diesel was only fraudulently the mpg king. Won't that cause an automotive efficiency championship vacume? Just saying it sounds like that may bring back the ousted runner-up.

yes they had the amerpera, rumor hs it that they will get a version of the bolt. AFAIK they are not selling any plug-ins today, but as hill has said opel is really part of gm, and doesn't count as a full manufacturer.

GM could in light of that, but when asked about Europe during the gen2's release, they had no plans on bringing it there. Price plus import taxes are still a hurdle.
Then in the US, GM is trying to snag the diesel fans that left VW with the 2017 Cruze and 2018 Equinox.
