Cargo Capacity Calculation

    That's correct.

    I watched a review on the 2017 Fusion Energi and even though the trunk is rated at 8.5 cu. ft., it could only hold one 24" luggage because of its shape. Two would fit but the trunklid will not close (you'll have to bungee cord it)

    I'd like to congratulate Tideland on a great piece of work and starting this thread.

    I had to opt for the Gen4 without the spare tyre, and the risks that go with it, because of the fall in capacity from the Gen3. Without having the numbers, the usable space still definitely 'feels' smaller on this new model. If you take also consider the storage in the cabin area, it is even worse (but wasn't a deal breaker for me).

    does the lower rear roof line drop the hatch window height?

    It would be better if I could confirm with figures, but yes I believe it does and also over the rear passengers heads too. You can get an impression of this when you compare the side profiles of the Gen4 vs Gen3 on pictures.
