Transport ship tracking

    Kind of 'traditional' here that as a new generation of Prius rolls out, people are on the edge of their seat in anticipation. I admit to being one of those. I've heard that Primes are on ships (maybe even mine). Is there a way to get more information on Toyota's car carrier ships and when they will arrive on the west coast (or any coast for other folks).
    The only site I've found with ship tracking info is AIS, and they want a pretty penny ($1200) to get a look at ship location, assuming you know which ship you're looking for. I would guess that is a bargain for someone like Toyota who wants to know where their cargo is, but it's a little out of reach for just curiosities sake.

    Yep, saw that. It may be that in 2009, when the thread was posted, AIS was free. It's not now, and does not show any data. Also, since that thread was started, new ships have been added to the car carrier RO-RO fleet.
    So, to be more specific in my question: Is there a (free) site that shows Toyota car carrier ships and their destinations?

    So, the question remains, do you know what ship and where it is and when it will arrive in the port of interest? I'm told mine is on a ship as well, and would like to know where on the big ocean it is. I was never very good at dealing with anticipation.

    There is an IOS app called Marine Traffic. I use it when around West Coast USA ports to watch ship movement. Never tried tracking ships on the open ocean however.

    In the past the vehicle inquiry report from the dealer here in the US had the ship data. Got a VIN already? Canada?

    Web cam viewing of harbors, bays, and bridges. No need to leave your comfy chair.

    No VIN yet after about 7 weeks. BTW, what is typical delivery time?
    Just wondering what is delivery routing from Japan to US or Canada (say Toronto). What going to be a debarkation port and how it goes by the ground (railway?)

    Toyohashi (THS) to Portland, OR (PDX) to New Westminster/Vancouver, CA (NWE) then by rail to the far east.
    13 days to PDX then 2 days to NWE, and then ?

    Dealers here in the US can tell you when your factory ordered car shipped and on what ship. It's on the report I mentioned above. For Canada I don't know.
