Got my new to me 2014 Prius tinted 35% on all windows but the front. I'll add some less glamorous shots later. Next fog lights.
Tint is a must have in my opinion. I do all my cars at 15%. Seems super dark on everything but my Prius. Due to the slope of the windshield and rear glass plenty of light still gets in to make the tint look closer to the 35% "legal" tint.
Your 35% sure looks much darker than my 35%. Mine is not as dark as that picture shows. I asked about getting it darker, but it costs $200-$250 to remove the tint!
Since this thread was helpful for me when selecting my tints, which I just had done today, I figured I would share in case it's helpful for others to see. Considerations I took: 1. I preferred to keep it legal (35% in CT), but was told that 35% left many people feeling like it was too light. 2. I preferred to go a single tint all around, since I didn't want the front / rear contrast to be too high between tint levels. After looking at a lot of pictures, I went with 35% on the front sides, 20% on the back sides and hatch. For me it's perfect – still legal since my fronts are 35%, and the contrast between front/back doesn't bother me, since it's not a huge difference.
Did you put the tint on yourself? I was told by a window tinter that the windows have 5% tint from the manufacturer. Not sure if that is true or not. I put 42% on and I'm satisfied with it. REALLY keeps the heat out when the sun is beating down on it which in 90% of the time I'm driving.
Thanks for posting these pics. I've been waffling between 35% all around vs. 35% fronts and 20% rears and will likely go with the latter.
Looks great! A lot of Toyotas here in the south gets window tints installed automatically at the port as part of the Southeast Toyota division option so I didn't have to pay someone to do it after the fact (I bought mine used). It was nice! I got rid of the car a few months ago and when I bought my new car, I had to take it to a shop to get the windows tinted.
