Lane keep assist?

It beeps, the mfd displays and lights up which side of the lane you crossed over and it lightly turns the steering wheel in the opposite direction correcting you.

 

Gen 3 Prius has both LKA and LDA w/SA except it's called LDW Lane Departure Warning. It warns you and also actively steers you away from the lane divider.
LKA only works with DRCC and the speed is above 50mph I believe. This is the mode that constantly tug and pull to keep the car in the center of the lane.
LDW works above 35mph with or with cruise control (in regular mode). It has no active steering until you're within about 3 inches or less of the line divider then it gives you a quick tug and beeps at you. If I had to take off a sweater or a jacket, LKA is the only mode I would trust. Even then, I would only do it when there's no cars around and as quick as possible.
Edit: After looking at the video, the Gen 3's LKA is not as aggressive as the Civic's LKA. Gen 3's LKA can't actively steer the car into the curve by itself but it can lock the steering wheel to follow the curve once the driver steer the car into the curve like it shows in the video. Also the LKA cancels out after 15 seconds without your hand on the wheel.

 

It helps, but if you just let it bounce between the lines it will warn you to put your hands back on the wheel!

 

I would turn that lane warning thing off if I had it. It is now standard for 2017. The other features of the now standard safety pack I could live with.

 

It's not on by default. You have to turn it on every time you start up your car. At least that's how it is on the Gen 3. Not sure on gen 4. Besides, The gen 4 doesn't have LKA, only LDAw/SA. LDAw/SA is way less intrusive than LKA. LDAw/SA can't do what that Civic can do. The only thing that's always on is pre-collision warning, autonomous emergency braking and pedestrian detection. I doubt you'll want to turn those off.

 

On Gen 4 it is ON by default, you can adjust the sensitivity, and it stays on if you turn the car off. I've set both warning and assist to maximum. They are good to have as an added warning.

I wouldn't be turning them off.I think that if you turn them off, you no longer have the snooze/drowsy warning either, which, while I hope I never need it, if I do, I WANT IT TO WORK. Please.

 

Wow, at least on gen 3 is off by default. Can anyone confirm that it's ON by default in the US market for the gen 4?

 

I would imagine TOYOTA wouldn't ship a vehicle with it off, as it's a safety feature. If the owner then turns it off, then it's their responsibility should there be legal action, but if TOYOTA didn't have it on, and an incident occurred which could have been prevented, they'd be in BIG TROUBLE.

Same as they connect the steering wheel and brake pedal.

 

It is toggled by a button on the steering wheel. Stays at the same setting until you change it.

 

True. But it was on when I received the car. The settings though can be changed through the setup menu system.

 

So if you turn the LDA off then turn the car off, it'll stay off the next time you power up the car? kind of like ECO mode?
Each market is different. The US market is not the same as other markets. Gen 3 Prius's Lane Keep Assist was only available US and no where else on the planet. There's no turn signal indicators on the mirror in the US market. Folding mirrors are not powered. The US Prius didn't get heads up display until 2012. Other markets got them in 2010.
Korean Hyundai Ioniq has a 12V battery. The US market doesn't. It's powered by the HV battery converted to 12V. Not sure if other markets use 12V battery or HV converter. DRL can't be turned off in the Canadian market but can in the US. That's why cars bought in the US has to be modded in order to register in Canada.

Yeah, I'm starting to have a love hate relationship with my keep sassist, (yes I purposely misspelled it) some days I just turn it off, personally some times I think you riding the lanes is safer than not. I think i'll name it what pilots call their altitude warning "bitching Betty"

How many times does it beep? 3? 5? Continually?

So many guys seem to be annoyed with the reverse back-up beep, and deactivate it. How do they handle the lane departure warning?

 

It only beeps once that I've noticed, it's not annoying. The only times I notice it is if I've gone too close to a side line, but I'd rather be warned.

 

I leave it off, as I'm on two way roads, I ride the right side of the lane and it keeps beeping and telling me to pull over and rest.

 

It only beeps once but it also tries to steer, kind of annoying, I do like it some times. Luckily it does come with a switch you can disable it. Tried the auto high beam the other night, pretty cool.

The few times I tried it, I found the beeper worked ok. What I understood and think I felt in the steering was It only tries to move the car back if it doesn't feel steering wheel movement from the driver. To me it was poor at doing much.
