Also for PHEVs that come with two different inlet connectors?
The 'domestic charging cable' (i.e. portable EVSE) is the high value one as it includes the 'control brick'. The Mode 3 cable is, as far as I understand, just an extension cord with two Mennekes plugs at the ends (OK, 5 leads cord or 7 leads cord in case of 3 phase), this is a low value item and it will be foolish not to include it with the car.

Interesting. In the USA, some base models do not come with a privacy sliding cover but it's included on higher priced models. I would assume this might happen in the EU too. How measured then?

Could some of the loss be providing a spare tire?

^^I don't know! Maybe to the top of the rear seat backs?
I do know that all models coming to Israel are with sliding cover.

I think the model Toyota is showing in Paris is not the high end one - although it has a solar roof. It does not have 11,6 inc screen, leather seats and JBL audio. Will be interesting to see whether Toyota will offer same 17 inch alloy wheels than in 4 gen Prius which I have now. My dealer said that first cars will arrive to Finland Q12017..so still bit waiting to do

There is a a one way clutch between the ICE and PSD of the Prime. This allows the MG1 to help propel the vehicle with MG2 when in EV mode.

^I was referring to the PiP.
In the prime, MG2 power rating is lower than the battery power rating not higher.

No 11.6 inch screen in Europe. I got this by writing to Toyota Holland. Yes: Q12017.

The Leaf only offers the cargo cover on the top trim, but I was able to buy it pretty affordably from Amazon/eBay. If this ends up being the same case for the Prius, then I would only consider it a minor one time annoyance.

I don't think the 11.6" screen is making its way to Europe.

17" is available in Japan only IIRC. Of course that could change in a few years if Toyota decides to import it. The 17" wheels is the same one found on the regular Liftback so you could swap it out yourself.

"The new Prius Plug-in Hybrid has an EV driving range of more than 30 miles".

    1. Have people noticed that the Ev range is quoted in the text twice and in the spec as greater than 30 miles? This is a new, increased claim isn't it, that has not been made before.

    2. Note that the drag coefficient is cited as .25, not the .24 of the non-plugin Gen4. Must be a mistake. Careless to get details wrong on a high profile document like this.

Might not be a mistake. I believe the .25 is the same as in the following thread posted a few days ago. Different front end could be the probable cause.

    Toyota EU press release:
PRIUS PLUG-IN HYBRID The New Benchmark in Fuel Efficiency

Some interesting details that somehow were omitted from the UK release:
Trunk deck was raised by 160 mm to accommodated the bigger battery
Solar system: during driving the system charges the 12V battery to cater for auxiliary loads thus taking load from the traction battery.
    And more...

    Added:
In one place they say 50 km EV range, in other more than 50 km. EV range s still a volatile number (hope to the right direction).
Battery weight increased by only 50% for double capacity.

    Don't know for sure...
For Gen4, all we have is Toyota-Japan Powerpoint slides that seems to suggest the shape of the whole, posted elsewhere here.

When Gen3 came out, Toyota USA video did a decent job explaining the volume-ft3 in each cubby hole, but even that video failed to explain how that added up to the quoted EPA Cargo Space.

    In general we have:
    Above Tonneau
    Below Tonneau
Below floor (Prime and PiP have some)
    Gen3 is add'l 3-ft3 below floor! Gen2 about 2-ft3 below floor

    1. Actually that's lower than what Europe quoted before. It was "50km" or 31 miles. Of course, it says "more than 30 miles" so I suspect it will be greater than 50km. Remember, the NEDC is a different test cycle than the EPA 5-cycle test.
    2. It actually is 0.25, not 0.24. The Prime is slightly less aerodynamic than the Liftback (although due to rounding, we don't know if it's 0.244 vs. 0.246 or a larger difference). The difference is due to the front end design. They wanted the more coherent "future vehicle" look with the quad LED headlights. That slightly increased the drag. The double-wave rear window offset that increase by a bit but obviously not enough to give it the same rating as the Liftback.

Design was a slightly higher priority with the Prius PHV.

Sometimes the designers win and the aero engineers lose.

At least on the Gen 4, if you don't have the sliding cover, you have a folding cover instead, that has the same position as the sliding cover.
