Hello, I just wanted to know experiences of individuals who have or are going to reserve a Prime from the dealer. Let me place this question into context. I am from the southern California area and called two dealers to keep me in mind when they get any info on the Prius Prime. Both knew nothing except general ideas of maybe when it may be released or on models. With the great info provided on this site I now know many things about the car and I called back one of the dealers to ask for specifics on what I want, he mentioned I can hold a car for $500. Since I didn't remember his name I had to speak to someone else on a return call and he said I had to put down $1000. When I questioned this he said that repeat costumers only had to put $500. This is a dealer where I bought my Prius C and my wife got her Yaris and we never were asked for a $1000 for the car. He also mentioned there are people already reserving, like there is a list. Sorry for the long post but here are some of my questions: Are people experiencing a list already? And how much are you being asked to reserve? Are dealers taking specific orders, such as color and model? Any other answers to experiences would be great.
I emailed my local dealership about the arrival of the Prime and received the following reply: "Thank you for your inquiry on the new Prius Prime. The jury is still out as to when exactly we will see them rolling in and there won't be very many at all. My inside sources say there is a slight chance we may see the first one sometime before the end of October, but that is by no means confirmed. based on the interest in this car, I do not expect it to last very long. Let me know what other questions I can help answer for you." Sounds a bit like a salesman talking.
Ya' think? Sounds A LOT like a salesman trying to condition a potential early adopter to pony up some extra cash for the eventual ADM on early units.
honestly. inside sources? doesn't toyota communicate with their dealers? when i was in business, there were many meetings, both away and at home, when a new product was being released. we were well informed, and well armed when the phones began to ring.
Bolds are emphasis mine. Total sales BS talk. As a former sales instructor, this tactic is called "Fear of Loss." He wants your deposit and now. Now, it could also be totally correct that it, or they, might not last long.
I put $1000 down in March and was just told that it'll be early 2017...I live in Canada so apparently we will get them after the US...I guess it makes sense...bigger markets gets them first. My dealer really has no idea about the car...I've told him everything he knows (which I learned from priuschat!)
When I ordered the PiP when they first announced, I didn't get it until April 2012. I waited awhile but missed the winter road salt season. Sometimes waiting is a good thing.
Ha! I grabbed my first Prius in March of 04. I couldn't get the rated MPG due to cold weather and strong gusty winds, and I was a liittle concerned. But summer eventually rolled around and man was that sweet! I'm hoping for the same feeling with Prime. (Or Tesla 3, or...???)
I do 100 miles a day . Need more than 22 miles to make it work. We can only wait and see what going to happen. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
I can only hope it is released soon, what I mean soon by within a month, not only cause at the moment I am without a car but also so I can get the tax credit for this years taxes
Was just called from my local dealer in San Diego yesterday, they already have a silver Prime on their list to be delievered for beginning November.
