I just got my new 2016 Prius v, and since I have a SERIOUS mouse phobia, I've done a lot of reading on all of the mouse discussions on PRIUSchat. I took a look in my new car at two of the easy to see known mouse entry points, and noticed that it seems like Toyota may have made some improvements since previous years (from the pics I've seen), at least in these two spots. I'm not brave enough to pull apart my car to access the other known mouse hideouts quite yet, so I'm wondering if anyone else has checked out known problem areas from older models on their new 2016 v? Here's a pic of one spot, under the hood, just below the windshield and wiper on the passenger side, where they seem to have added some screening: And here's a pic from above the cabin air filter, where they added a thin foam flap(that you can push forward with your finger, it's hinged on top)...wonder if this will help?! I'm pretty sure these are changes from previous years...thoughts on that? And has anyone checked out their 2016 v for mouse entry spots, and if so, has Toyota made any additional improvements or are there still giant holes? Thanks!
I tghink that is exactly what the screen under the grille is for: rodents, crickets, buts, leaves, etc. Nice!
Sorry to say it's not- they come through the side of that cover. Straight inside the cabin. They chew right through that in minutes.
Just saw this post. We have a pretty bad mouse problem in the winter time here in the mountains. And suggestions on mouse or chipmunk proofing would be greatly appreciated Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
I have two cars 2010-2012 both have been infested .They both had nest on top of the cabin filter. If you open the hood go to the right side (driver side) there is a channel that hides the windshield wiper arms and goes right into the vent area. if you put your hand were the drive rside hood hinge is you will feel there is a big holeIput a electrician snake in this hole and the snake came out right into the vent area. This is were the mice are getting in . This channel is blocked off on passenger side.
Okay, we're tired of this mouse/chipmunk/rat problem in our 2015 V. Have read some of the comments. Is there a shop manual that show how to remove the rear panels/bumper, etc. so as to install screens? Any YouTube videos on this? We'll get it, but hate to ignore the work others have already done.
