Thanks for these beautiful photos! I saw for the first time the interior of the base model!

In Frequent Business Travelor, there are more photos of the same press event:

In this one, details of the front are visible quite clearly.

Having age same issue, once in the gallery I'm being booted out after about 3 to 5 seconds.

What is the Eco's volume under those measurements?

Be aware it's a different set of measurements.

For Gen 4, it's listed at 15-17 cu ft in Europe but 24-27 cu ft in the US. This means that the 19.8 cu ft is more like 10.5 cu ft for the Prime.

    I am with Tideland...
    Be careful on Cargo space.
Danny is probably quoting US EPA Cargo Space, which is a strange measurement for liftbacks.
For example, Chevy VOLT is about 19-ft3 EPA cargo space, and about 11-ft3 true luggage space.
So you want to compare "Luggage Space" for that 2006 (16-ft3) and you do not have luggage space on the Prime - and if you had it, well I don't want to go there unless we know the data.

Usually, Europe and Japan give better space numbers, but on Prime right now we have only seen the US EPA number, with its liftback (inflated) numbers.

And for the Gen3 guy, life just doesn't get much better than a Gen3 Prius for space. Just saying be sure to evaluate the space.

imo, we won't know until we can pull up next to one, and measure/compare. it looks great with two backpacks, but if you told anyone your hatch held two backpacks, they'd laugh at you.

The 16cu.ft. for the gen2 is the EPA spec, so it is comparable to what Danny reported.

That said, I think the Prime and Prius cargo area isn't as load friendly as the gen2 and 3 are. The previous models have a typical hatch that allow the typical shape of the cargo space that one would expect. The new generation has that faux trunk deck. Depending on what you want carry, the new profile of the cargo space could reduce the utility of the it in comparison.

Then we don't know how the double curve of the rear window of the Prime was handled when measurements were made.

The picture the the Prime hatch looks decent to me!!
If someone could drive up my house with a Gen2/3/4/Prime I could tell you.

But TB, the first time we heard about EPA CARGO SPACE was Gen3 when the quote was 24.3-ft3 vs. 14-16 ft3 on the Gen2. If you look at all the Brochures and I did, for some (legal?) reason Toyota knocked the reported Gen2 luggage space number down from 16ft3 (thru at least 2006) to 14ft3 by 2009. But we just ain't talking +10-ft3 in the Gen3 vs. Gen2.

The hatch floor goes up and down depending upon the amount of charge, electron by electron.

Still can't examine the pictures for very long before I'm dumped out of the slideshow.

In the picture of the dash display showing LDA sensitivity, what is the coffee cup at the bottom for? If the LDA steering assist is adjustable, that would be very good.

It's the Sway Alert. It toggles on/off whether you want the car to suggest a break if it senses you're weaving in your lane.

The EPA for the space is the same for the 2005 and 2009 Prius. The auto companies aren't limited to using that value in marketing though. That's why the Volt has a different one on the Chevy site from the EPA.
    Compare Side-by-Side

The 2016 is a little longer and lost some cabin space to cargo.

I'm sorry, I know this is a cheap shot, but every time I think of the new PIP hatch, this comes to mind:

I feel that EPA website is inaccurate or approx. simply lumping different types of luggage space quotes under the same heading. So you got apples and oranges. You need to look at Toyota brochures which more clearly state the measurement basis (Luggage Space vs. EPA Cargo Space vs. EU VDA etc.).
