    Hello "The electric Me"

I too (wife included) are Star Trek fans. We go to Star Trek movies and TV shows for the more realistic possibility of traveling in space and what could be encountered vs Star Wars for just plain fantasy fun.

We loved "Beyond". I thought the chemistry was fun. J.J. Abrams is a master of putting a story to a movie screen. I will like all the movies unless they completely bomb.

sad about anton yelchin. weird that it ties into a car forum, and specifically new and unusually operating hardware that people don't understand.

We should just start a separate Star Trek Beyond thread with *spoilers* in the thread title. That's how it tends to be done at TiVocommunity. And, for TV shows, it's pretty much assumed (for most of them) that there are spoilers inside.

Star Trek Beyond isn't a "special" (on TV) nor a documentary...

    True.
But I don't know if we would want to set the precedent of creating individual movie discussion threads.
Prius Chat is diverse, but where would you draw the line?

Probably pushing it a bit with this thread as it is.

I would argue, that there seems to be a more than a coincidental connection between Prius Owners and Star Trek.
Could be the idealistic vision, the technology.....

Not too much of a difference between- "To Go Before"...Prius...
    and
" To Boldly Go Where No Man Has Gone Before"...Star Trek....and/or The Pontiac Aztec.

Something went wonky and it did NOT air at the scheduled time on 7/31.

It looks like it'll be on 8 pm on August 14th. See Star Trek Anniversary Special (2016) - Page 2 - TiVo Community.

What's wrong w/discussing movies in a general off-topic area, as long as it's not political?

Over in the (off-topic, general discussion) Happy Hour area of Tivocommunity, people start movie threads and discuss them. There's actually FAR more traffic and activity in the Happy Hour section of TCF than ALL Tivo-related sections combined.

Back to Star Trek Beyond, for those that may have missed it, I did watch an interview w/4 of the cast members on "The Talk" thanks to a TiVo wish list.

I noticed there are a few copies on YouTube.

is one of them. If it gets deleted, Google for the talk star trek site:youtube.com. The segment should be over 12 minutes. I didn't know that Karl Urban and Katee Sackhoff (aka Starbuck from RDM BSG) were in a relationship.

John Cho had some funny things to say about being in Amsterdam.

I didn't say anything WAS wrong with it....
It was you that pointed out that technically "Beyond" wasn't a Star Trek special or documentary.....

    I'm fine with it.

I would speculate it's up to Danny and Prius Chat management whether they would want to devote a forum or group of threads to "movie discussion".
I like the diversity of Prius Chat...that is, the discussion NOT all being Prius related. However, while I'm fine with a little Star Trek commentary, I generally do not seek out Prius Chat for any movie discussion.

But if a specialized forum or group of threads were created?
    I'd probably participate.

Priuschat is the only forum I frequent so I would love to chat about my other interests especially Star Trek. The reason I like PC is the light handed intrusion of mods to censor us. A little deviation like what we are talking about here is fine in my opinion. But on other forums, this thread will locked already.

PS I realize there is a separate thread about PC and too much censorship. I find it odd myself. What other forums give us this much freedom to insert political commentary when discussing fuel economy?

It was definitely aired earlier tonight (8/14/16). For those that missed it, it might be rerun for you. For me, it'll be on again at 12:03 am, per TiVo guide data.

So..... I recently finished rewatching the whole of TNG - they were showing one episode per day on one of our cable channels. He grew on me eventually, but for the first three seasons, I was strongly of the opinion that Wesley Crusher was basically Scrappy Doo.

And now I've started Voyager, because I've got a DVD box set. I haven't actually seen most of Voyager before: I think it came out when I lived in Hong Kong, and it wasn't on TV there.

And I've come to one stark realisation, along the lines of the Wesley Crusher / Scrappy Doo one.

You never see Neelix and Jar Jar Binks in the same quadrant, do you?

What WERE they thinking when they introduced Wesley Crusher?!? unless he was Picards secret love child?

I never liked Jar Jar Binks either, though now I have to look at that ugly mug every time I walk over to my Leaf

I think they wanted to extend the appeal of the programme to The Kids. But The Kids would have been perfectly happy without him, I suspect.

It had never occurred to me before. But you're absolutely right.

There are quite a few car-person resemblances.

My friend Dom looks like an Austin A35.
