One of the videos is on the EGR valve cleaning procedure. Nutz About Bolts Prius Maintenance Videos | PriusChat
Specifically on page 2, here: Nutz About Bolts Prius Maintenance Videos | Page 2 | PriusChat It is just tip of iceberg, just a connector pipe, as they acknowledge. Is there a follow up video? I didn't search further.
How many miles on yours? Had it since new? To clean the egr, remove the pipe you cleaned then remove the 2 nuts holding the egr valve to the cooler. I did the cooler at the same time. I had replacements for both from the salvage yard. When I removed mine it was at 120 k miles. The valve had carbon deposits which can be removed with a brush and elbow grease . The cooler I have been using compressed air to blow the deposits off of the fins inside the cooler. Still getting deposits out. What are the symptoms you are dealing with where you decided to clean the egr valve? Keep us posted .
Can u show a photo to point out which are the 2 nuts lol,any other things to pull out ?how difficult? Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Ok so the nuts are facing the car .....got to find someone with small hands then lol Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
It is a 2 person job. But a good excuse to understand toyotas infinite wisdom with the Prius ICE design that includes the egr system. Good luck and PM me if you need any help. Getting the new cooler back in is a challenge and I performed a simple modification to help with this.
But if I wanna take out just the valve and not the cooler is still a two man job? Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Nope. Just need to separate both ends of the valve. That is 4 nuts (2 on each side of the valve). The nuts on the cooler side are a bit trickier, but can be done. Good luck.
Unless you go to the salvage yard. $35 for the egr and $65 for the egr cooler at the auto recyclers in Rancho Cordova. I drove there to get them, so no shipping and they had plenty of stock.
