Suggest a navigation - android head unit?

How quick does the reverse camera come on after powering up the car and shift to reverse right away? The stock nav takes less than 2 seconds

 

Mine comes on very quickly, even before the unit is ready.

I mean how long does the rear camera image come on when you first power up the Prius and shift to reverse, not just shifting to reverse after you've already powered up the Prius for a while. I ask because I need that reverse cam image to show up as soon as possible. I can't wait 5 seconds or 10 for the reverse cam to show up. I need it as soon as I'm ready to back up. This usually less than 3 seconds.

 

I had iGo on my 2010 Prius. Was quite happy with it. It is not limited to USA - they have maps (and languages) for most of the world. Only downside was having to periodically update the maps - but once every couple of years was enough.

 

Which part is long? Can't get any faster than powering up the Prius, shift to reverse and the get the reverse image to come up in less than 3 seconds. I don't understand your question and I don't think you understand what I posted either.

 

I understand exactly what he is asking as I have exactly the same problem with my factory-installed system. The reverse camera is not immediately available after you power up the car.

I have a 8GB USB stick permanently plugged in - I wonder if that slows down the initialization of the system???

 

I figured out why the reverse camera was not immediately available. I power up the car, shift into reverse, reverse camera is displayed for a moment, and then goes away. The reason that it goes away is that the audio system (which was busy reading my USB stick) now takes over the screen, and places itself over the view of the backup camera.

The problem doesn't happen if you wait a second or two after powering up the car before shifting into reverse. I don't get the problem after I power up the car, finish fiddling with my seat belt, and put on my driving glasses - by the time that I have done those few things and shift into reverse, the audio system is up and running so the reverse camera picture remains on top of the display

 

I think I have this adapter. I didn't need it but thought I would. I'll try and locate it...

Not sure if the provided cable will reach or not, but there is a great location for the GPS unit directly above the rear view mirror where the roof line meets the windshield (Directly in front of the sunglass storage compartment). The trim piece can be pulled off by hand and exposes a small empty space... I used the same space to install my radar detector https://priuschat.com/posts/2200611/

 

I got 2 sd card and 1 usb sticks all the time but it doesn't delay my reverse camera.it takes 1 sec to display ,even if the head unit is turned off.
