I am assuming you have not purchased yet.

Read the owners manual and note the customizations you want, the salesman will agree (in writing) to them to get the sale.

If you wait until you own the car, service may try to charge you for them.

Yes. Look through the DMV website for the fees and taxes. In NJ transferring the license plates (registration) can be cheaper than a new registration. Bet money the dealer will also overcharge for the title fee. NJ also has a new car tire tax of $1.50/tire. If the car doesn't have a spare they should only collect $6.00.

Some dealers, including Nissan, will try to collect NJ sales tax & the tire tax on LEAF sales. In NJ EVs are exempt from sales & tire tax.

JimboPalmer makes a good point. Ask about their customization policy. At least one trip should be free and get the car customized while doing the paperwork to save yourself a trip.

I had the continuous back up beep turned off and the seat belt chime turned down to one beep. I don't remember what the third thing was, probably had the doors set to "unlock all" when a handle is grabbed. The list covers many pages. I am sure some owners are happy with all of the default settings. I am sure there are some that were unhappy with all of them.

Does $23,800 for 2016 prius with ATP sound like a bottom price. It is everything but sales tax and tag transfer cost(so out the door is $24,135)

south460, in NJ that is a good price. Did you get a quote from AAA or truecar?

I paid 25k before tax / tags / fees up here in PA for my Three w/ ATP, it also had the rubber floor mats and cargo tray and body side mouldings, not sure what options yours has... But you can take what I paid for reference. Msrp on mine was $29547. I opted to take the discount and brought my own financing. FYI.

What's your tax rate down there in SC? What about the fees you mention? What is the purchase price before taxes, tags and fees?

I only deal in out the door prices and tell them I am not interested in other breakdowns.
We have a $300 tax cap.I will transfer tag so includes their handling transfer which I cld do myself but it seemed like a fair price .I do not know if includes rubber mats etc,but I am fine with that.Sorry I don't have whole breakdown for you. Appreciate your info. I had planned to get a used Prius to replace mine, but now think I may go new.

I had to pay $1500 in taxes, 6% here in Pa... Your lucky in SC..

Plus I had to get a brand new tag since my truck tag obviously would not transfer to the new Prius, so that added to my out the door too.

Sounds like you worked out a great deal. The reason I ask about added options / acessories was to try to help answer your question of "is this a good deal"... If your car has no options or add ons it's still a good deal but if it's loaded up with add ons that could easily add a grand + to the msrp, knowing these things help us help you.

But a good deal is all relative, if your comfortable with the deal and can afford it then go for it.

Just got my best out the door price at $22,794 and that was a Costco quote, so yeah from what I have read on here anything close to $22k would be a good price in Cali

It was just the 2 not the 2 Eco. I haven't bought it yet still working a few other dealers off this price to see if I can get something better
