We have enjoyed camping in our 3 prii, a 2011 gen 3, 2005 gen 2 (230,000 miles original battery and engine) and my 2012 Prius v five. Here is a picture for everyone! Twin size air mattresses fit perfectly
It does really well! Just get you angles right. I've crawled up a ditch before in my 2005. I've had one wheel in the air even. All without scraping anything. Just took it slow
You should check out habitents , (can't post a link). Gives you more room and ventilation without letting the bugs in. Incidentally a Full size mattress (one size down from queen) will fit with a little modification. Then you can sleep two comfortably.
My Prius has been a rolling motel for me this year, have driven over 23K miles for frequent trips out of state, and staying in cheap camping spots all along the way; with MPG's in the high 40's on the hwy, it's an astonishingly cheap way to see the country! Instead of a twin-size mattress, I use a slim children's IKEA mattress, so it doesn't take up all the space in the back. VYSSA SLUMMER Mattress for small bed - IKEA
did you guys just fold the rear sears or did you take them out to fit the mattress in? BION StarCaller
Did you guys sleep in those prii at night or what? Was there any lighting out there sourced from the auxiliary battery using an inverter, or something? If for instance, you decide to sleep in one of the prii, you sure would close at the doors, readied the car, and put on the AC system, isn't?
Pretty flat. If you really want to stretch out, the front seat back fold back almost into the rear foot area, then the back seat folds on top. Half a sheet of plywood (with something to support it on the front seat) still has plenty of room to spare. Most people seem not to do that and just push the entire seat forward. There is a little downhill slant, barely noticeable or easily overcome by selecting an inverse parking spot.
