My apologies to everyone for that off-topic rant. Every state has it's good, and bad points. There is much natural beauty, and scenic wonders, and interesting history in all states... (it's just too bad that the people screw everything up!)

Maybe, someday in the future, we will return to Planet of the Apes.:ROFLMAO:

Costco in my area didn't offer any deals on the Prius which was a bummer.

Shouldn't be that much hassle. Your local DMV will instruct you through. If you find the right car at the right price, it can be worth it.

It's ironic, but I'm a believer of paying a bit more for the right vehicle - so price doesn't always win for me... Especially if you find the right one in front of you when you've had prior tough luck...

We've heard stories here on PC about the South East Region not being very customer friendly. Prices seem to be higher and cars are often loaded with dealer or region add-ons to jack the prices.

    As reported by Edmonds :
"We publish Toyota's national prices, and they will be the same as the prices displayed on Toyota's website. However, new Toyota vehicles in the following states are distributed by two independent companies, Southeast Toyota (SET) and Gulf States Toyota (GST), and they both add fees to the prices of the vehicles they distribute:
    • Southeast Toyota (SET): Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina
    • Gulf States Toyota (GST): Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Texas
Any difference you see between an MSRP displayed on our site and an MSRP found at your dealer (or displayed on the regional websites of SET or GST) is likely caused by a supplemental destination charge imposed by SET or GST."

I got $2500 off and 0%. Maybe not the best deal but it was a special order and the dealership had 30+ on the lot that weren't moving at all.

You got an incredible deal. That 0% financing could have been taken as another $2000 discount. But 0% financing is good too. Only you can decide how much interest you would have paid on the car. I didn't have so much to finance so it wasn't a good deal for me to take the rebate. I got a great deal through my local credit union and I'll only spend about $400 in finance charges.

A dealer advertised 4k off msrp for a base. But his msrp was already jacked up by 3k, paint protection etc. Seems south east toyota strategy is if no consumer sales for asking price then sell it to fleet owners. Will end up buying the new civic. Got a good quote for 18k for civic ex.

And that's why I don't live in LA! lol (and I like living by the beach)
This is to people who don't live near a Costco: drive whatever distance it takes to get to the nearest Costco. They are reliable and have great deals on pretty much all cars.

I don't live in stinkin LA either. No freakin' way! Nobody speaks English! And I hate large cities. I'm in a small bedroom community... way south/east of LA. (But it's bad enough still being in the County.) I should've followed my sister to Montana, 25 yrs ago.

But, like I keep sayin', the State is beautiful... so much scenic diversity... it's the damn crazy people that screw everything up!

I was looking last week -- I want as close to a base 4 touring as possible - Black if possible. My local dealer gave me 1k off the MSRP. Toyota is offering an additional $500.00 .. and 6 years 0%. I bought my 2011 with the max financing the last time (5 year 0%). When they offer free money -- I take it. Toyota will finance the whole thing -- tax and registration included. I sign and drive away. My insurance company provides gap on the purchase.

Withe the cars not selling I was expecting a bit more from the dealer.

Along with opting for 0%, I saved about $3,200 off of the MSRP and on a car without any dealer add-on's. Since then, they have offered an additional $500 in my local area. I would aim to save at least a couple grand more in your case... It's end of the month right now... Try to close on a deal on the precise Prius of your choice. Good luck.
