You'll need to report back on mileage, does it help at all?

Don't know (yet) Don. But it sure sounds good! There's a big picture on the pump that explains all the 7 new ingredients, and what they supposedly do. And Mobil is cheaper than Chevron, so I'm switching.

(My city MPG seems to be stuck at 60. Doesn't matter what I do, or how I drive, I'm always at 60 or 61 miles per gallon on the display.)

    Well that certainly is....marketing.
Although I routinely fill up at "Top Tier" fuel stations, most often Chevron with "Techron", I admit that I often feel like the farmer or cowboy in the audience of the Medicine Barker, when I read the claims all stations make about the wonders their additives create. Keeps fuel systems clean and Cures The Aches and Pains...is what I'm waiting to hear.

Because separate from whatever additives of ingredients that may or may not be added to a gasoline, what we are dealing with here is "fuel".

So the logical and cynical part of me thinks that all fuels primary function is to explode in your piston chamber and create energy. The idea that it is also hopping out of your car and cleaning your windows? Walking your dog and or recording your favorite summer series, well, I take all claims with a huge grain of salt.

For me the difference in cost, between....additives and supposedly better, and simply..the cheapest you can get...is so minimal that I default to Top Tier stations like a bad religion.......I guess I'll believe "just in case".
Despite all the marketing, over all the years, no gasoline provider has ever IMO really redefined "gasoline".
I somehow doubt everyone will suddenly be trying to catch up with Mobil's "Synergy" gasoline.

Do you think a new vehicle would have a build up on intake valves but am open to hear of positive result on mpg. Let us know if it helps?

Well they do not seem be claiming higher energy content fuel which gives better MPG (they really cannot do that because EPA requires getting rid of the good energy content higher MPG stuff at least in most USA Prii sales regions). I guess it's true that gum deposits can hinder MPG. But I am not aware of an additive that gives better MPG other than by removing crud and deposits. Hey good TopTierGas.com stuff as far as I know, especially those of us in Reformulated Gaso areas get pretty clean fuels albiet not the best energy content/MPG.

Well, I certainly have lots of choices. The Mobil station is right down on the corner from my house, a stones throw away. And 1/4 mile away on the opposite corner, is a Shell, ARCO, and 76 (formerly Union 76.) And only 3/4 mile away is a Chevron station...

No wonder my hair fell out. All these gas fumes!

I gave up believing in the additives back when "Mr Dirt" put Mobil on the map. Seems like every gasoline has something nowadays.

Well apparently the detergent additives are needed and required by EPA, and it's good to have more than EPA minimum. Past that it's a judgement call unless we see some data.

Well don't know how old Mr Dirt is, but I am guessing this goes before EPA started mandating fuel recipes. Different era. Isn't that Bisco's car before the Prius? Look at the air dams in front.

I also have Costco gas near me.
I will buy 1 gallon of all the different brands, mix them together, and then my Prius will blow the doors off my neighbor's Tesla. :D

So what brand of gas do all you guys use? Truthfully, I don't think it matters. In the past 40 years, I usually just bought whatever was the lowest priced in my area. Never had a problem with any of my vehicles. They all ran fine. Never burned oil.

I think people make too big a deal about the kind of oil, gas, additives, etc. People like to complicate things.
I bought my Prius for simplicity... Just gas it up, and enjoy the drive.

I do use TopTierGas.com which happens to be Exxon and Shell in my area. We have some grocery credit programs so I am usually switching depending on how many groceries we are buying. I use GasBuddy to find the cheaper stations in my area. Since we live in a EPA reformulated gasoline area, I do not think there is too much difference, but I avoid the non-TopTier cheapo. Costco is TopTier cheapest but I do not go there just too far.

Regular grade for me totally, although if I lived in a different region without EPA RFG mandates I would fiddle with E0 and Premium and smaller stations to see if I could find MPG sweet spot. RFG areas pretty much same energy content E10 at all stations in all grades so no fun.

Thanks for posting the link to the tire chart. What do you guys think of Pirelli tires? Anybody have them?

I'm not too concerned about gas mileage. I don't necessarily need a LRR tire. My main priority would be wet & dry handling/traction, ride, stopping distance, and noise reduction.

Agreed. Think up a new name, add some drops of some fancy chemicals into 100,000 gallons of gas, and bing, bang, boom shakalaka! New gasoline. ITM.

Maybe Exxon/Mobil was losing some business, and decided to come up with a new marketing plan?
I'm a pretty "skeptical" guy. Not overly negative, but I just question things... and I don't trust a lot of the claims that oil companies make, or gas, or tires, or even the baloney that auto manufactures put out.. (And especially doctors!)

Youz give your money, and youz take your chances.

Going out tomorrow to get my Mobil-1 oil change. Or should I just buy "Brand-X"???

i generally buy from the local mobil, he's about 30-40 cents higher than the no names, but at 8 gallons a month or so, it's not worth driving around. and he does all my mechanical work. i'll report back after i run through my next tank.

I think the Synergy gas just came out last month. It may not be in all states yet. I seriously doubt it will have any affect on gas mileage numbers.

Mix Chevron Techron with Mobil Synergy... and you will have a hot rod.
