It's seriously slow with my S7 Edge. It appears Toyota have not installed a fast charger. 1471781468242.jpg

I don't know where the charging coils are located, but phones can be be quite sensitive to their location. Have you tried turning the phone around 180 degrees?

If you're out of Wi-Fi range and not using GPS, you can turn them off, which may improve charging time. Also, when the screen goes to sleep, it may use less power and charge quicker than that screen indication shows. But I'm just guessing - it may not help.

Is that poor charge rate typical of the system? If it's not as good or better than plugging in a cable I wouldn't use it. I charge going to and from work, and most of the time I'm good for the day.

A bit off the subject. What I understand , to add this feature to my IPhone you need to add the charger on the back of the phone and plug a cable in to the lightning jack. That won't work for me, the jack would be broken real soon. Is there an IPhone option with this built in?

It has been my experience with both my SmartPhone (Droid) and tablet (Ellipsis 10) that they're quite sensitive to which charger they're charged with, the branded good-quality chargers seem to do a much better (faster) job than the dime-a-dozen knock-off Chinese garbage chargers found at many convenience stores, gas-stations, pharmacies and kiosks! (IMNSHO & (…as always) YMMV!)

Yup! …setting the device to "Airplane Mode" and disabling unnecessary features (BlueTooth, WiFi, location etc.) can make a big difference, active-wallpaper is another …

Wireless charging is slower than charging via a cable. After trying a couple of cheapies, I now have a god quality charger. My LG G3 charges about 15%-20% in an hour. So your nearly 3 hours from 67% to full charge is not so far off the mark.

Ultimately, you're gonna get 5 watts from Qi, most likely. The standard has room for higher power, but AFAIK, that hasn't actually been made available.

Compare to 2 amps at 5 volts (10 watts) on most chargers, as much as 24-36 watts with Qualcomm Quick Charge depending on connector (although Quick Charge will probably be going away, with USB PD supplanting it), or whatever USB Power Delivery can do on your device.

Plugging in my S7 Edge to my Samsung AC charger at home, highlights that it can do a full charge from 0% in 2 hours.

Actually, in the case of Samsung, then they do offer fast wireless charging. I do wonder if there is any way to swap the Prius Qi charger for a fast one?

That looks like it's Samsung-proprietary (for the fast mode, anyway, it slows down to standard Qi rates on non-Samsung devices, apparently).

I feel your pain, I don't think the on-board charger is very good. I have gone to plugging in a good quality charger int the power port and charging that way. You can purchase a fast charger for your car that plugs in but there is no wireless fast chargers for cars yet.

Push the pedal to the right of the brake to make your charger go faster. Works for all phones. Experience may vary depending on shift position.

Sorry, it was too easy. ;)

Not quite true. I found at least one wireless fast charger for cars. Fast Wireless Car Charger – Qi-Infinity

Inductive charging is very dependant on the distance between charger and phone. Could be that your case is thick or makes the phone lie a bit farther and it's making it charge slower.

Mine would show current going to the phone but would never charge on a cheap after market one.

Pretty much given up on this feature and consider it a gimic as the phone charges good on the USB and cigar lighters.
Not going to pay $28 for another experiment.
