I'm planning/ thinking about another Prius. Our 2011 five just past 150K -- will be paid for in a few months, Think I will move it into a less used spot in the fleet. I went with the top level Prius at the time for the wheels and the LED headlights -- the inability to get the sunroof on the five was fine as I did not want it anyway. I did not get the technology package .. a base white five was only $900 more vs a four w/o the sunroof. The better sound system is still bad .. and the leather was like plastic .. but easier to clean vs the cloth. The car has been about perfect for what I needed it for.

The Toyota web site is horrible. I'm trying to understand the new model differences! The touring model gets me the 17" -- I don't want the sunroof. Last time I needed at least a "four" to get leather -- now all have the fake stuff. I like having the map with the NAV -- but the 2011's NAV is really a bad system. It's confusing!

    What's a base Gen3 five w/o sunroof -- in a Gen4. looks like now 0% for 6 years .. did the price go up?

I have noticed a few black Gen4's -- they look the least objectionable to me. I bought a black Lexus CT last fall -- we love it. It's a low optioned car (no NAV) -- it's a Prius with a better interior. I don't really miss the NAV -- the sunroof is nice on the all black CT -- I never open it but the extra light into the black interior helps. The Prius has much more glass vs the CT so a black Prius w/o sunroof is no worry ... I would have liked the LED headlights on the CT.

I got a great deal on the CT -- But I need the bigger cargo of the Prius for my needs vs getting anther CT.

Both the local dealers told me I have to get the sunroof -- and it looks like the touring models don't come with them.

It's also annoying that the auto wipers don't come on the three.

Looks like I will be searching for a base 4T in black

I you want a good sound system, go for the 4 touring with the Premium Convenience Package. It has the JBL system, which is pretty great.(y)

You need a new Prius. Just work a deal on one in stock and be flexible on the color.

It is all plastic interior after 2011 except for Europe etc and I miss the dead cow skin.

3T Has some of the Tech package features but not all (lane keep and radar cruise but no HUD) I'm probably forgetting a thing or 2, not sure about the auto high beams... Oh and a plus is the 3T is the only touring model that has a spare tire.

If you want the bigger wheels and the softex get the 3T. Just remember it's easier to curb and damage the wheels on the touring models.. A curbed black wheel does not look pretty, but they do handle nice.

Just an FYI the three w/ATP is about the same price as a 3T give or take and nets you the HUD, sunroof, auto high beams, wheels less likely to get damaged by potholes and curbs...

I actually did an extended test drive loop back to back with a 2016 3T followed by a three and believe it or not the 3T netted 2 mpg more on the same route? Weird indeed as we all know the Gen 3's with 17's always return about 5 mpg less than the regular ol 15"s... I know this by experience of owning a 2013 Three (48mpg lifetime) Followed by a 2015 Persona (43 mpg lifetime). Thing is I do believe it's the Gen 4's superior regenerative capabilities that kinda make the wheel upgrade mpg hit little to almost nothing now.

I would have bought the 3T but the deal fell through. I ended up getting a wonderful deal on my silver three w/ ATP and honestly could not be happier...

Food for though. Probably more info than you wanted...
