The issue I've run into is that the factory mic has a amplifier that's powered by the factory heed unit with less than 12v. Finding the correct current & pinout ls has been my road block.....but not to worry.....I haven't given up hope yet

Thanks for the tip! At the time, it looked like their last one'd been sold, but they must get more from time to time, because I rechecked and they had one, and it came today.

I was a little concerned at the generic shifter picture on the box, but it was the right product inside. I like how the box assures you it is both excellent and wonderful.

The other side of the box even tells you how you'll feel if you touch it.

My own reaction: it's a lot bigger than I thought, almost comically huge. I'm getting used to it. It does match the IV interior better than the blue plastic thing. It's a nice look.

One thing I hadn't thought about (maybe the designers hadn't, either). By day, it looks both excellent and wonderful. By night, the piano-black gloss makes a perfect specular reflection of the bright little point-source LED lighting it up from above:

... a little tiny bright reflected spot, right there in my peripheral vision, all the time.

I'm starting to wonder how it would look with maybe a thin coat of clear Plasti-Dip sprayed over the top, just to get it a little more matte, so it might look more evenly illuminated, instead of just reflecting a spot. But for now it's good enough.

Once you get used to it the regular knob seems anemic and puny! :D

You could also block the little LED light on top to get rid of it shining on the shift knob

The harness provided should have a plug the connects the OEM cam into the new head unit.

Which head unit did you buy? Did you go with the Android 4.4.4 or 5.1.1? They have different adapter. You will need to buy the adapter for the build in USB port in the car. Link below. The install is straight forward if you have the right connector.

Cool, I was reading a thread in PC stating an additional adapter had to be purchased for OE rear view camera to function with the android unit. Good to know it doesn't need one.

Yeah, I kind of like having the light in that area, though. Gets pretty dark down there without it.

Just one of those design considerations you don't necessarily think of at first, but it's obvious when you see it ... turns out there's a reason Toyota didn't choose any high-gloss finishes down there in that area.
