Nothing is finalized yet. That is a possibility, since we've seen it offered elsewhere. Cost and the want/need to set apart Prius Prime from Prius are factors that could delay the decision too.

We've seen Prius extras added in later years to attract new interest. That could be one of them.

I'm hoping it is included right away, since squished seating for 3 in back hasn't ever been a purchase priority for me... but warmth for rear passengers comes up on a regular basis.

I did not see heated rear seats in the Prime.

Where exactly? (I'm not talking Hyundai, I'm talking Toyota lineup since they'll have to have a supplier). We'll see an expansion of heated steering wheels in Toyotas before heated rear seats.

Surprise goodies new to the Toyota line-up have been introduced via Prius rollouts. It's not too far fetched to hope that could happen with this.

We got the FOB in Prius before any of the Lexus vehicles.

fob? Pretty sure remote keyless entry was offered in Lexus models before Toyotas.

Smart Key System? Ok, if you want to hold on to that one and only time 12 years ago. The way you wrote it, it sounded like every Prius rollout had something.

Didn't it for Toyota models? What about Lane-Keep-Assist? Wasn't Prius the first to get it?

And what difference does 12 years make? We're seeing repetition with the Classic & PHV. Both were limited availability mid-cycle rollouts. Just because an approach is old doesn't mean it won't work again.

I do not know about plugin hybrids, but then I was saying the same thing about hybrids in general a couple of months ago. My Four may be the best car I've ever owned (assuming decent reliability), but I *think* if I were to go the plugin route, I'd go full on and consider a Tesla.

if you can afford it, it makes sense. for those of us in the 30k limitation, we have to compromise on something.

Well there's also car like the Leaf or the E-Golf, etc. Hybrid *and* plugin seems a little redundant for me personally but you should definitely buy what makes you happy.

I think the Prius was the first to get LKA in the Toyota lineup.

Alright fine. But heated rear seats won't be offered (at least initially).

agreed. it actually works out better than a bev that only works for x percent of your driving, and you have to have a second car.
as far as comparing to hybrid, it's just the love of ev driving, and all the advantages that come with it. with the added benefit of the most efficient hybrid on the road, instead of having to own a second car.

I think your argument doesn't hold water.
    1. Have you ever had a notebook whose lithium battery was still fine after 4 years. No? Well then...
    2. All the electric energy we additionally need will be from gas or oil. Or from state subsidies, which is not honest...

Yes, I have. The reason why is simple, I never allow deep discharges... just like the system in Prius.

That type of longevity approach allows batteries to greatly exceed aging expectations.
