It seems they recently changed their pricing to subscription. $10 for a week or $40 for one year. Stinks because I just bought the Carista adaptor expecting to pay one time $20 for the app upgrade. Feel it's way too pricey now for limited time access. Are there any cheaper alternatives on iOS that will allow me to customize the cars settings using the adapter?
A bit annoyed by this too. I bought the Carista app assuming the TPS sensor programming would be added on the next upgrade. There is no way I would spend $40 a year to change my TPS sensors when I put on the winter tires. I think the local tire shop I bought the tires from will do it for free. I'd probably be willing to pay a small one time update fee, but $10 a week or $40 a year is not happening. Hear that Carista?
Wow, this sucks. And I didn't like paying $20 once. I don't know how Carista is going to sell their OBD-2 adapters when you could go to the dealer and ask them to change the car settings. They still haven't notified me on the billing change. Maybe I'll never open the app again . Well, I can still return the adapter to Amazon.
From the Facebook group: Carista Keep in mind that dealers charge you way more for a single visit! Also, for the next few days, we're keeping a "backdoor" open, so you can still get the old Pro Package at the old price of $20 for lifetime use if you're interested. Just open the debug menu and get it from there. Let us know if you have any questions about that.
I think I will start a service... and offer use of my Carista and software to make changes to cars near me. I will become the Uber of Carista car setting changes!! Just hope us $20 paid users... are really getting it forever... and not some fine print in the terms & conditions. I'm glad to have it. Made another change last week. But an annual fee (at any price) is ridiculous!
So, do you have to already own the Bluetooth adapter to access the debug menu? My adapter did not get ordered on prime day like I thought and now have to wait for it to come on the 18th.
You do not be connected to the Internet to see the debug menu and purchase the 'old' $20 Pro Package. If you know that you are going to purchase it, download the app to your phone and tap the 'hamburger' icon in the top lefthand corner to get access to the Debug menu. The remainder of the process is an exercise for the reader. I opened connected by Carista OBD dongle earlier today, brought up the app, and changed a few settings (I think a there are some additions). However, Version 3 seems to lacking on 2 counts: A) The default setting appears to be no longer highlighted. B) I didn't see the ability to keep a copy of the current settings by emailing the the setup and choices. I didn't spend a lot of time playing, so these observations may be erroneous. Please correct them if so.
Went to the dealer today to have my codes changed. Sat there for 2 hours and I don't believe they did anything. The windows down are working with my remote, but I'm not sure if it was like that and I just didn't push the button long enough. Reverse beep is still beeping. How can the dealer not know how to do this or not have the right equipment to do this? I'm ordering the Carista and hoping that I will be successful in making the changes I want. Will post again when complete.
Is the old version no longer available on the Google Play Store? Only one I saw today was 3.0. It's something I could use when I get an adapter, but a yearly fee is ridiculous.
That's a bit disappointing, I only wanted to get one so I would switch the reverse beeping from annoying to one beep mode.
Huge thanks for that tip, got the $20 app today. Not to say that they can't phase the $20 one time fee people out with an app update at some point, but for now it's better and $39 a year. That, is RIDICULOUS. Tap the three lines at the top left of the screen
I can also confirm (like a few others here) that this part works perfectly: Amazon.com: Veepeak Mini WiFi OBD2 OBD II Scanner Scan Tool Adapter Check Engine Light Diagnostic Trouble Code Reader for iOS iPhone iPad and Android: Automotive
I don't have debug on Android either. Side menu brings up help, email customer service, supported vehicles, where to buy, terms of use. I don't have an adapter, wonder if that's causing it?
I was going to buy a Cartisa unit, but refuse to pay a subscription fee for software that I will use maybe 1 or 2 times a year. NO SALE!
Update to the latest version. Open the side menu. Tap the version number 5 times. It gives me options to "purchase old Pro package" and to "disown old Pro package". That tells me that there will be things in the future that I don't get with my already-owned Pro purchase.
thanks, that did the trick. Not a very intuitive way of doing it. Now I just need to get a dongle and start hacking the car. As far as changing backup to one beep I was able to do that with my Scanguage for those that have one.
update : carista arrived this morning and I was able to do in 10 minutes what the dealer couldn't do in 2 hours. gen4 one reverse beep. the only thing that didn't work was disabling the seat belt chime. if you're in the Orlando area and want your settings changed I'll do it for $5 give me a shout out.
