    looks good! here's hoping they've finally figured it out. too bad they didn't put it in a new platform, i wonder how big the trunk is.

    I like it, at least on paper. Would have to drive it. And the trunk capacity would be a big compromise vs the Prius. MPG isn't quite as good either but if the estimates are realistic it stacks up really well vs non Prius hybrids. The only other thing is it seems pretty pricy, especially for a gently used one (at least the previous generation around here) vs a Prius. Not looking for a car though, I'm happy with my Prius and I just recently bought it.

    They are putting it in new platforms. It's being used as a powertrain option on the Odyssey minivan in Japan (but not the US, so far). It's also being used in the mid-size Clarity platform as a plugin hybrid with 40+ miles of EV range.

    2016 Malibu hybrid also has 46 MPG...

    some great vehicles coming down the road, i hope they all perform well, have low maintenance and repairs, and catch on.

    the most concern is whether it can get good MPG as honda claimed.
    can you put more time on MPG evaluating as you test drive?
    then it's power, the next is suspension and NVH.

    In CR report, the 2015 accordhybrid got 41 mpg, fusion 40, camhy 38

    The test drive was yesterday but we aren't supposed to publish anything about the drive experience until Monday. I can say that I wasn't focused on mpg as I was driving it hard at times to test its acceleration behavior.

    the best thing I hope editors can do is to make a comparison of all those hybrid midsize sedan.

    I watched a video of MotorTrend, the editor said Aisin once authorized Ford and Volvo the system, and this claim is from Ford.

    I would not trust CR numbers for comparisons. The tests are outside, and if not on the same day, will have variance from weather. On top of that, the CR drivers drive them hard; they got 30something for the gen3 in the city.

    Aisin makes transmissions for many. That doesn't mean designs or patents are shared.

    Aisin only made Ford's first gen transaxle. The current one is made in house.

    Yeah, I'm a former owner of many GM vehicles, including Chevrolets (most recently a 2004 Colorado that I drove for 177k miles). They make some decent cars, but I am not sure I would trust a Malibu hybrid to be nearly as good as a Toyota hybrid (Camry or Prius) for longevity. What's the track record to review here? I don't even see the first generation Volt on the road around here anymore and they used to be common. What happened to them?

    Many Volts were leased, so relocation after those leases expired is likely.

    I agree with you about CR mpg test, their test result can be a reference, but not accurate.
    except for EPA number, I prefer D3 data of Argonne lab, those test are all done on the same dyno in a constant temperature room. But Argonne lab doesn't have too many cars data.
    another one can be referred is fuelly data, but you'd better check the data and try to calculate them by yourself, some irresponsible data often mixed inside.

    As for Aisin and Ford, i wouldn't mind who hold the patent, I only care about their hybrid effect. Ford seems did well in their 2.0 ECVT system

    if this is real, or frequently happen, I have to say, it's not a flaw, but a defect.
    disappoint me so much.
    and the battery , as I remembered, is from Panasonic.

    Moreover, how do you think about its mpg, I read from other journalist who said only got

    your idea is clear
    it seems it can reach epa number easily, good news, not like 2014/2015 model ,got 42 or 43 for fully users.

    the 0~60mile acceleration time probably is less than 7 seconds.
    C/D and MT test the 2014 model is 7.2 seconds.
    2017 model is lighter, 16 more combined horse power.
    as Jeff said totaly 60KG heavier than 2.4CVT 3325lb. this means 2017 is 3458lb
    the 2014 model is 3575 lb, 117lb more than 2017 one.

    It does seem like reviews are all over the place on MPG. What did you think of it? Did you feel like it can get good MPG without trying too hard? Also at 2700+ RPM at 75 MPH did you feel like the engine was droning while on the highway? That isn't a big deal to me in the Prius but that would bother me in a 212 hp vehicle.
