I have a 2005 prius. I have read all over for what the problem cam be. I hope some one here can help. I took my prius to the Toyota service shop and theye said they couldn't see me today. So, my triangle light the car light with the ! In the middle on the screen came on as well as one other one. I change the big batter and the 12v after reading here that that's the problem, but my problem still exist. When I shut the car off and turn it back on every thing comes on and ready but only goes to neutral. It won't go to drive. I disconnect the 12v like a forum said and plug it back in and the car starts again once. And drives normal. Until I shut it off. I took it in to read the codes and there are 0 codes. The service guy told me there is nothing wrong.

Wait, the dealership can't see you TODAY, but you're able to change your 12v and hybrid battery today? I must be in the twilight zone

How can things move so quickly?

When you say service guy, are you referring to a Toyota service guy because certain scan tools will not pick up codes and the factory scanner or a mini vci with techstream works best. Did you replace both batteries with known good ones ?

You have a high voltage leak. The codes are P3009 or P0AA6. It is the only fault that causes the one and only one start after a 12 volt reboot.
Generic code readers will not read all the Prius codes.

I will take it by Toyota again today. See if they will read it this time. Every time I unplugged the 12v I can start it up again and drive. Should I not do that? How is the problem fixed and what's the average cost

Ask for the Sub codes. 612,613, or 614 are the options. The sub codes tell where the leak is coming from. You can try this test on your own. For a Gen II Prius, ing on & ready off is reached by pressing the power button twice with your foot OFF the brake.

    More info on the leaks.
